It seems the male minifigs may have this head with 'black' eyebrows instead of the currently listed head with 'brown' eyebrows. So listed as an alternate.

Sorry, i might have already posted this in some other thread, but why is there
a limit on the number of messages i can sell?

Sending out a message is the one way to try and arrive at an approximate total
cost of the item to be shipped.

i think its quite weird.

eBay does it perfectly. Do I want BL to be a LEGO eBay? No.

Don't see what one thing has to do with another.
Ebay allows to pay sellers 'in one shot', but you're still paying
each seller individually in reality (check your PP overview, or creditcard overview),
just in the same way you pay each seller here individually (but one by one, based
on the invoice each seller sends).
I never used the 'bulk' payment Ebay offers, I've always switched
to pay sellers one by one, as it allows me to keep control rather then to be
lazy...

night night

You just pointed out the flaw. There is no choice of separate payment type or
a bulk payment that divides to each sellers total.

After you've checked out (http://www.bricklink.com/orderPlaced.asp) or before?

Doesn't change having to pay separately.

So, you want bricklink to behave like eBay so you don't have to pay everyone
individually?

I wonder what it is recently with people coming here and wanting it to behave
like something else when that something else already exists.

Since you have 0 feedback, maybe just try accepting the way it is at this moment
and see if something is needed rather than trying to change something

Why come down on a new member who essentially is making the exact same suggestion
that a member who has been around for three years made 2 days ago?
http://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=855571

It is possible this new member was simply trying to help and there is no membership
length criteria for making suggestions. If new members never could place orders
but also could never make suggestions to help themselves, no one would get sales.

I'd say this new member's perspective strengthens the argument for auto-check
out. New member(s) used to something else are confused by BrickLink's non
standard system of online commerce. Confusion has the potential to lead to loss
of sales/revenue.

They aren't actually talking about automated checkout.
They are talking about buying from x stores, logging into paypal, making one
payment or one batch of payments to pay for all of their orders.
It's integration with PayPal.

That wasn't my understanding of the suggestion. He said a global cart with
individual shops under there - I don't think he is advocating for paying
only one individual for items from multiple shops.

He said "It's too hard to keep track of 30 different stores AND
pay separately."

in other words, keeping track of 30 different stores AND paying for them separately
is too hard.

In his comment back to me, he said 'Doesn't change having to pay separately.'
His issue seems to be having to pay them separately.

Seller 1 sends him an invoice, seller 2, seller 3... .seller 30

He wants to pay them all at the same time.
Not necessarily in one payment, but let's call it a payment batch.

Now, if seller 30 doesn't send an invoice for 4 days, possibly to pay them
all at one time, he would wait.

eBay only had that happen with PayPal after they bought them.

And why come down on them for it?
Would you go into a restaurant and tell the chef what to do with soup without
ever orderering it first?

No, but if he served me soup on a plate with only a knife to eat it with, I sure
would suggest he try a bowl and a spoon next time.

(sarcastically) try to order the soup then.
This is a new user who created a profile on September 20th, asked the question
on the 21st, so again, did the OP 'try' to order from 30 stores and was
confused, or is simply a suggestion without trying first really worth merit.

Sure, anyone can make a suggestion, but the same kind of suggestions that changes
a task from 2 clicks to 1 click, I also will comment negatively on.

Negatively on the suggestion, sure. Negatively on the individual suggesting it,
I wouldn't but I suppose you are within your rights to do so.

How often would this be needed?
Is the current process to onerous?

Yes, the current process is more onerous than standard online commerce websites.

If you ordered from 5 stores, 2 that only accepted IBAN, 2 that were fine with
paypal and one lives next door to you and you were going to pay cash, how would
you handle it.

I can buy things off of walmart, target and TRU, all intending to use paypal,
but I still have to log into each site, place the order and pay for them separately.

I've made BIN's on ebay that doesn't give me the option to pay for
other purchases at the same time, I can't commit to buying it unless I do
so right now.

Do mistakes happen that this process will correct or circumvent?

I get automated check out. That's not the same thing.

My mistake then, I didn't think he meant to pay with only one transaction
for multiple stores. I don't think that would be a good system here or anywhere
that I can think of. Sorry for my mistake and subsequent thoughts on that mistake.

I don't know if he placed an order, but I thought I say a previous thread
he started trying to get help placing an order. so I do think if he had trouble
placing an order that it is legitimate that he make a suggestion that he thinks
may help others who may also be confused.

Sorry again for my misunderstanding.

No worries at all, sometimes suggestions flow into one another.
For the one you linked to (with a similar suggestion), he had 300+ feedback,
so he at least got to experience the site before making his suggestion.

If this user has gone through many transactions, then it's under another
ID and we all know that's against the TOS and no one would break that

They are talking about buying from x stores, logging into paypal, making one
payment or one batch of payments to pay for all of their orders.
It's integration with PayPal.

That wasn't my understanding of the suggestion. He said a global cart with
individual shops under there - I don't think he is advocating for paying
only one individual for items from multiple shops.

eBay only had that happen with PayPal after they bought them.

And why come down on them for it?
Would you go into a restaurant and tell the chef what to do with soup without
ever orderering it first?

No, but if he served me soup on a plate with only a knife to eat it with, I sure
would suggest he try a bowl and a spoon next time.

Do mistakes happen that this process will correct or circumvent?

I get automated check out. That's not the same thing.

The reason is that there are 30 different stores buy different owners. See it
like shopping at a mall as compared to shopping at Walmart. At Walmart you buy
everything you need and pay at one checkout. However if you go to the mall, make
purchases in many little stores there you don't expect to pay for all of
the goods at one universal checkout do you?

Hello,
I am sorry, but I was very careful with these variants when entering the inventory
for this set. I am not surprised either that the sets found in Europe differ
slightly then the version I opened here in the U.S. I have observed a similar
pattern for many sets recently. I realize that there are many times when it seems
that variants for items are not verified correctly, but this is not one of them.

Thank you!
Jen

I agree about this part. I just confirmed this inventory:

Set No: 31025 Name: Mountain Hut
*
31025-1 (Inv) Mountain Hut
546 Parts, 1 Minifigure, 2014
Sets: Creator: Model: Building
and it had the grooved type of orange jumpers (with solid pin):

Part No: 3794b Name: Plate, Modified 1 x 2 with 1 Stud with Groove (Jumper)
*
3794b Plate, Modified 1 x 2 with 1 Stud with Groove (Jumper)
Parts: Plate, Modified
The white ones were these, right in the same set:

Part No: 15573 Name: Plate, Modified 1 x 2 with 1 Stud with Groove and Bottom Stud Holder (Jumper)
*
15573 Plate, Modified 1 x 2 with 1 Stud with Groove and Bottom Stud Holder (Jumper)
Parts: Plate, Modified

Hello all

I guess these guys are just used to eBay... it'll take them a fee orders
to get setttled here.

A "fee" orders when using "eBay" in the same sentence. Sounds like a Freudian
slip!

I mean't a "few" lol.

These are multiple sellers, and you pay after an invoice, not automatically.

Judging from all of your requests, it's probably better if you actually change
the item itself, instad of have an alternate. (Since it seemed as if the original
submitter did not take variants of this type into consideration.)

Sets: Star Wars: Star Wars Episode 2

* Change {2 to 1} Part Metallic Silver 64567 Minifig, Weapon Lightsaber Hilt Straight

Comments from Submitter:
there is only one in this set, not two

Most of the time these parts come in a set with 1 extra.
Are you sure there's only 1, or should it be 1 regular, 1 extra?

Diana

From what i can see from the picture of the set and the instructions there are
2.
On at the top of the Spider and the other are used by a Minifig for a Lightsaber.
The Minifig don't have it in its inventory.

Have a nice day.
taxan

Change of this invetory is almost correct in the set is only one

Part No: 64567 Name: Minifigure, Weapon Lightsaber Hilt Straight
*
64567 Minifigure, Weapon Lightsaber Hilt Straight
Parts: Minifigure, Weapon
in metalic silver color for minifig second one is extra. So
change is partial correct. One should be added as extra also in this color.
In the set they are also 2 of this part but in LBG color used in main
build. So on the top of "Spider" you see it but in LBG color.

BTW

Part No: 64567 Name: Minifigure, Weapon Lightsaber Hilt Straight
*
64567 Minifigure, Weapon Lightsaber Hilt Straight
Parts: Minifigure, Weapon
in metalic silver color was only used in Star Wars sets and
when you analyse them this particular color was only use for lightsabers. Never
for any main build as I recall.

Cancel my post, I was wrong (dam those online hard to read .pdf).
Your right there are 3 in the instruction, 2 LBG and 1 Metallic Silver so the
the last on should be moved to "Extra".

Have a nice day.

Most of the time these parts come in a set with 1 extra.
Are you sure there's only 1, or should it be 1 regular, 1 extra?

Again, instead of fiddling with alternate parts, I propose to add an alternate
set 4477-2 to the catalog. This would also make it easy to incorporate the alternate
instructions.

Need only 2 of this part in Step 10 of the instruction. Couldn't find any further usage.
Maybe there are different instructions, perhaps someone could check this.

The 3d is in step 17 on top.

Well, so it seems there are at least 2 different instructions.
In mine there is no such part in step 17.
Instruction has Number 4193291 (c) 2003.

It would be great if you could add these to the catalog. The note on this inventory
does indicate that these parts are missing.

Thanks!

Was leaving feedback on a completed NPB and got this message

"You have just left a negative feedback comment. If this is due to non payment
then please go to the problem order page to see your next available options on
how you may proceed with your complaint."

This was after a NPB was completed...

I like there being a message, I just wish it was different.

I would prefer a message saying something along these lines:

And the voting for my suggestions is changing it to the following text

"You have just left a negative feedback comment. Have you contacted the buyer/seller?
If you were unable to resolve your issues please go to the problem order page
to see your next available options on how you may proceed with your complaint.
Leaving negative feedback before contacting the buyer/seller should only be
left AFTER you have attempted to resolve through the buyer/seller"

with buyer/seller being appropriately substituted for your situation.

Thanks,

Ken

Please make changes to the following inventory:

Set No: 70700 Name: Space Swarmer
*
70700-1 (Inv) Space Swarmer
80 Parts, 2 Minifigures, 2013
Sets: Space: Galaxy Squad

* Delete 1 Part 47905 Dark Bluish Gray Brick, Modified 1 x 1 with Studs on 2 Sides (match ID 1)
* Delete 1 Part 42446 Dark Bluish Gray Minifig, Neck Bracket with Back Stud (match ID 1)
* Delete 2 Part 95199 Dark Bluish Gray Minifig, Weapon Gun, Two Barrel Pistol (match ID 1)
* Delete 1 Part 4592c02 White Lever Small Base with Black Lever (match ID 1)
* Delete 1 Minifig gs007 Dark Azure Robot Sidekick (match ID 1)
* Change 1 Minifig gs002 Dark Azure Robot Sidekick with Jet Pack {Alternate to Regular} {match ID 1 to 0}

Comments from Submitter:
The correct minifig in this set is gs002, since the robot is shown built with the jet pack. I don't know why a prior request to add an alternate minifig and parts was completed. This request reverses those changes so that the inventory is correct.

Anyone know if this is a genuine BrickLink CS account? Wondering if I should

In the past there have been several sets produced with different instructions
and significantly different parts. Too different to add as alternative parts
in my opinion!

I propose to add set 60050-2 to the catalog!

Hi

as you asked in your other post...
it's not correct

there are already 3 alternate parts in the inventory, so next will be n° 4.

on the MID you need to fill in for the 'add' part '4'
and for the 'change' part (what is well correct in this step) you need
also fill in '4' by MID.
Why did you fill in 587111 ?

Stefaan

best is to cancel your forum post for your request here (also your other) and

Looks like there are definitely 2 versions of this set as my instructions show
3x2 slopes in the construction and 3298 in the parts list but the links above
show 4x2 slopes and you can see 4x2 slopes in the instructions.

My instructions book 3 has a different reference number (6092634) to the one
in the link above.
I can't understand why there should be a difference but it certainly looks
like there is one!

Shall we just list 3298 and 30363 as alternatives?

Calvin

Yes, 3298 should be added as alternate.

I have added the alternate part now. This is quite new to me so I hope I have
got it right!

The instruction books references I have are:

Book 1 6092630
Book 2 6092632
Book 3 6092634

Comments from Submitter:
Incorrect part listed on original inventory. Noted when parting out set.

Are there two versions of this set? I submitted the change from 3298 to 30363
because that is what was included in the sets that I parted out. If your set
has part 3298, it should be added as an alternate.

Thats a strange one as part 3298 is shown in the inventory in the instructions
and the instructions also show 3x2 slopes used in the construction. If 4x2 slopes
are used then the set will not fit together properly and the train tracks will
be too far from the platform. I would say the parts included in your sets were
incorrect?

Not sure how we resolve this, do we list 30363 as an alternative even though
it seems incorrect?

Calvin

Brickset gets their information from the Lego replacement parts site and they
list 30363 in this set. They also link to pdf instructions on the Lego site and
those also list 30363.

as you know, that info is not always correct

I know, but in this case the info was correct based on the contents of the sets
that I parted out. But based on bnsf734's request, it appears that there
are 2 versions of this set and that means that 3298 should be added as an alternate
item. At least this time it's not as bad as that one set where a trainbase
was replaced with an assembly of multiple parts.

Hi

Just checked, here it's also the

Part No: 30363 Name: Slope 18 4 x 2
*
30363 Slope 18 4 x 2
Parts: Slope
as already mentioned, Brickset (and TLC) has also the 30363 =
http://brickset.com/sets/60050-1/Train-Station
also the instructions inventory #6106739 and #6106743 (both page 54)
http://cache.lego.com/bigdownloads/buildinginstructions/6106739.pdf
http://cache.lego.com/bigdownloads/buildinginstructions/6106743.pdf

Maybe member bnsf734 can take some pictures from his instructions and set?

Stefaan

Hi

Looks like there are definitely 2 versions of this set as my instructions show
3x2 slopes in the construction and 3298 in the parts list but the links above
show 4x2 slopes and you can see 4x2 slopes in the instructions.

My instructions book 3 has a different reference number (6092634) to the one
in the link above.
I can't understand why there should be a difference but it certainly looks
like there is one!

Shall we just list 3298 and 30363 as alternatives?

Calvin

Hi
http://cache.lego.com/bigdownloads/buildinginstructions/6092634.pdf
Indeed also the 3298
Difference is with the to cut lines and is with date. (Online version)
Must be a first run and changed later when they found it's to close to the
tracks...?
What are the other nummers?

Stefaan

update: view was on an iPad, on my desktop I don't see the to cut lines
date for the new instructions is April 17, the older are a mix from Jan 14+15+21,
2014 and Dec 9, 2013.

So first run was with the shorter slopes.

The problem here is that you still have to identify WHAT items from that sprue
are actually used within the set else you either force the seller to have all
of the items (including the extras and thus going directly opposite the USED
selling policy which says extras don't have to be included in USED) or you
add a note to the end of the inventory which in most cases do not get read anyway.

Then what happens when you have an item on a sprue that is used on a figure?
you can not then include the whole sprue as regular because then you would be
double counting at least one of the items.

The policy at the moment is not ideal for everyone, I agree, but at least it
works for a majority of the time. I'm not closing the discussion on this,
but there are flaws to the above suggestion which would mean it's not a solution
for every scenario.

Take my example of how stickers are handled - the whole sheet is listed, yet
not all stickers are required for the set to be "complete". How do sellers know
which stickers need to be included? Well, they can look at the counterpart list,
but that won't give them every stickered part, especially the Sticker Over
Assembly parts that are often not permitted in the catalog.

Sellers could also build the set, or just study the instructions a bit. But however
they do it, they have been doing it successfully for years now, and I never hear
of problems over this issue. Not to mention that stickered parts are significantly
more valuable than parts from a sprue.

And the issue of minifigs. The root of the problem here is that figs are special
assemblies and their separate parts should be listed in the regular inventory
along with all the other parts. This is how TLG and Peeron do it, and they are
right. Whole figs can still be linked to sets the same way that counterparts
are.

Be that as it may, the current problem of "double listing" a particular piece
off a sprue is really of no consequence. I can't imagine a scenario where
any seller would think they would have to supply the buyer with 2 parts instead
of one. That's like worrying about empty sprues and empty sticker sheets
- they are both present in inventories, but it would be pedantic to try to somehow
show in the inventory itself that these are not required in used sets.

Instead, why not include a short sentence on the subject in the help pages? A
few precise words can replace a great deal of wrangling with the system.

To sum up - inventories need to be kept simple and as true to the original TLG
inventories as possible. This provides an *ideal* benchmark to which sellers
and buyers can aspire when completing their sets. And the sellers who I have
purchased from in the past are intelligent people who are capable of using inventories
as the *guide* they were intended to be. Just look through the older set listings
and see how some sellers handle shortcomings of the system.

And please do not underestimate the effect of notes placed at the foot of the
inventory. This is where much critical information about an inventory can be
stored, and it can bridge the gap in situations where the BL system has trouble.
A good example of this are sets with multiple versions of instructions. So please
keep using the notes!

Comments from Submitter:
see http://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=853844

This is an improper use of the Counterpart. Counterparts are for things that
cannot be reversed at all or easily (parts that are hard to get apart once assembled,
stickered parts, etc.). The Counterpart area should not be used to add complete
sprue parts that are taken apart to make the build. The inventories you are referring
to in these requests are correct in the way they are already set up.

Regards,
Randy

Hi Randy

...but why did I ask then that question because I didn't get the info about
the extra piece came with the plume wheel, If I know it I wouldn't ask it

so I did a request for me and all other not know members that it came original
with the plume wheel

Stefaan

But this is not how the Counterpart area is to be used. If you want to know the
set originally came with a plume wheel, then try to get the original inventory
changed to have the wheel. However, it won't get changed because all of the
parts on it are not used in the build. Some of them are extra parts, and that
is exactly how the inventories are set up currently. This same method is used
in inventories with knives on sprue, keys on sprue, tools on sprue, etc. All
of the knives, keys, tools, etc. are not always used in the builds and are thus
relegated to the Extras section of the inventories.

Cheers,
Randy

I think the current policy on extras is very weak and needs to be revisited.
There is no good reason that complete sprues can't be listed as regular pieces.
OK, so then the argument is that sellers would have to come up with these "extras"
to sell a set as complete. But why not have a simple statement under the site's
selling policy that says something to the effect of:

Certain pieces that are not used in the building of the set (such as extra
items on sprues, extra stickers, and brick separators) are not required to be
included when listing a used set as "complete".

The point about stickers is a perfect example of how this works. Whole sticker
sheets are listed as "Regular" in every inventory, and common sense tells people
that the unused portion of the sheet is nothing but a (very) nice extra in used
sets. Why can't we extend this element of common sense to the whole inventory
system?

I really like the above solution. I think that would be perfect, because I like
having the set inventories include what originally came with the set (including
complete sprues). However, it isn't up to us what gets done about this. Maybe
the Inv Admins can talk about this again with the Cat Admins? Pretty please with
a cherry on top?

Cheers,
Randy

And look what the current system does to the catalog! This part is only listed
in 6 sets:
[p=6029c01]
But it should be listed in quite a few more:
http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?itemType=P&itemNo=6029b&in=S&v=1&oV=Y&srt=2&srtAsc=A

I agree about not listing it as a counterpart - that is only a make-shift solution,
and it is not what the counterpart section is for.

Russell

Emma
Senior Inventory Admin.

Very good point about the minifigs, Emma. I had forgotten to include that in
my thought process regarding Russell's post.

Cheers,
Randy
