About Me Pages: About retrotecchie (19)
I'm a 48 year old 'born again LEGO collector'. Trains are my big love, especially the early 3 digit sets from the 70s and 80s.

I still own all my original 70's LEGO and now I have a half-decent job and some spare disposable income, I'm adding to my collection. I just wish I had the sort of resources back in the 70s and 80s as I do now!

Thanks to life, the universe and everything, starting work, buying a house and getting married, my old LEGO sat in the attic untouched between 1985 and 2005 so I missed out on a whole 20 years of LEGO trains, but I'm making up for it now by recreating some of the classic trains from that period pretty much 'one brick at a time'. I'm busy working on the classic 7740 12v Electric Train Set which is getting there, I have a completed 7722 and a couple of 7710 sets all rebuilt from scratch, I've just acquired my first 9v set, the 4511 High Speed Train (thanks to a seller on ebay) and now have almost one of every generation from the 1968 116 Deluxe Train Set right through to 7939 Cargo Train and the Maersk Train.

Update Jan 2011

Just added: 181 Cargo Train, circa 1973, and the new City Red Cargo Train to my collection and hope to have a 7720 almost complete by the end of the month. It's slow buying it all a few bricks at a time, but very satisfying when another classic train reaches completion.

Update Dec 2015

LEGO has been on the back-burner (not literally!) for the last few years since 'retiring' to Wales and starting a new life. I now have a little more time on my hands so have dug some of my LEGO back out of storage and have a chance to play trains again! And yes, I pretty much completed the 7720 and 7740 trains!
