About Me Pages: About Trolleybase (55)
Veteran Lego hobbyist. (Since 1966) Specialising in Australian Trams, non motorised. Definitely not a Lego purist!! I cut, glue, paint, modify and add detail as required. I merely view Lego as a medium to achieve a model, it's more about fun. Models run on standard Lego track system. Thanks to the efforts of Ondrew Hartigan, I also modify trackwork. Models can be up to 10 bricks wide and 10 high but I still consider them "L" scale as such, within the model rail arena. Why bother with Lego for models when I could scratch build? Because Lego allows you to build many models quickly at a more affordable cost. There is a sacrifice of scale accuracy, but as I modify bricks to suit, and do all of the above, this is largely overcome. Is there anybody else out there that does this? Having said all of the above, modified bricks remain within the Lego dimensional scope. Half brick width is the only major deviation from stock dimensions, achieved with the aid of jumper bricks. So why don't Lego make a 3x7 plate? I do! or a 6x7? or God forbid, a 1 and a half brick? It's nothing to get hung up about.
