About Me Pages: About Blackbird972 (13)
I'm a career railroader, currently working as the Manager of Safety & Training for a regional railroad in Michigan, and I was formerly a Trainmaster (Rail Operations Supervisor) at a multi-national Class 1 railroad, previously serving as a freight conductor and locomotive engineer. My love of Lego began at a very early age (the first set I received that wasn't a bin of basic parts or Duplo was the Big Rig Truck Stop #6393 in 1987), and although I would pick up a set here and there as I saw something that piqued my interest after I'd reached adult-hood, all of my Lego had remained in totes for years. During the pandemic that saw life upended, I sought a fun activity to do with my wife that would replace conventional 'date nights.' I purchased the Lego Disney Castle, and so began several evenings of taking turns building, finding pieces for one another, and slowly, but surely, assembling the castle, marveling at the detail and subtle hidden references. From there, my love affair with Lego was rekindled, and my wife now picks out her own sets! We've even dedicated our 'third bedroom' into a Lego Room for our daughter to play in, which includes a 5 x 10 road-plate City, featuring many of my old sets that I've meticulously rebuilt, including that Big Rig Truck Stop, as well as a back-line of Creator Expert modular buildings. Opposite, we have an "Amusement Park," that features the Roller Coaster, Haunted Mansion, Carousel, and several other similarly themed sets. Only recently have I gotten into Stud.IO and MOC concepts and designs, but I'm absolutely loving my re-discovered love of all things Lego.
