Do you send out a message asking for them to leave it?

Do you include a note in the order itself seeking it?

I have left feedback with them already but haven't received anything back,

Many buyers will simply never leave feedback, other don’t think of it. In general
from some recent tests of a forum user it seems to have a little success to include
a note in the order to let the buyer know how the feedback system works but you
should NEVER message a customer to ask for feedback as they may have reasons
for not doing so and it can annoy them and you might end up with bad feedback.
But in general only ~30%-~60% of buyers will leave feedback so I wouldn’t worry
to much about ”chasing down” feedback

Ok thank you! I always felt awkward in ever "asking" for it but just
wanted to know how others approach it

I don’t do anything special, just post feedback to all of my buyers once marked
completed or if they’ve been there for a month or so.

Feedback has definitely dropped away as have buyers marking orders as received
or completed.

I believe my feedback was approx 66 - 67 % from my previous location, my store
at my new location ( 2 years after closing ) is now running at approx 50 %.

Thanks for the insight Stuart! I was also curious at what point sellers post
their feedback and my approach to that aligns with how you did it so that's
reassuring haha!

Take Care,

Do you send out a message asking for them to leave it?

Bad idea, this could be perceived as annoying and lead to neutral/negative feedback.

I don't, some other sellers do. No idea if it's effective.

Buyers leave feedback less frequently than in the past. Your order/feedback ratio
is about 50%, which is pretty good. Focus on your store and providing good service.
The feedback will take care of itself.

Thanks for the reply ! I'm glad everyone's responses so far line up
with what feels comfortable for me haha! It's too bad that the frequency
is down compared to the past, BrickLink has made it quite easy to leave Feedback.

Agreed with Nubs, never message buyers asking for feedback.

I have about a 64% rate of feedback. What I do is leave feedback while printing
postage/marking packed as the job of the buyer is done, they paid.

Each order I send out includes a packing slip from a custom template on Brickstock
(to get 21 lots per page) along with a hand written thank you.

I'm not saying this will get you a better feedback percentage but this is
just how I do it.

Thanks for sharing your approach I will look into the custom template thing!
I always include a packing slip and hand written thank you etc. but the packing
slip I include is just a print out of the invoice where I check off that all
the contents are there to show I have double checked. So perhaps if I step up
my game on that it will present better!

Thanks again

As counterintuitive as this is, that could actually lead to being "least
favorited". You don't want to become a nuisance.

Do you include a note in the order itself seeking it?

Also no. Don't explicitly ask for it. I send out a form letter with screen
shots that explains what the yellow numbers mean next to "my BL" and
what the green triangle means and how you need feedback if you plan to eventually
open a store. I then just leave it at that.

Thank you for taking the time to respond! I am relieved that people aren't
sending out messages because I wouldn't feel comfortable doing that haha!

I suppose it's just a thing that will come with time and refinement and the
hopes that overall folks start leaving feedback out of habit!

At what point in your process do you leave the praise for the buyer? At the time
of payment or once they confirm the order has been received?

Thanks again!

I've experimented a lot. I used leave it when I shipped. Then I waited
until they left it, but that means people who are new (and I have a lot of new
users) don't know what they're doing and resulted in lower numbers, now
I send the letter to noobs and again leave feedback once it has the label on
the package. No one way is markedly better than the other.

Hi! I notice that it depends on which way the wind is blowing to get feedback.
There are a few things you can do, though. Ensure your orders are complete and
correct (obviously), try and respond in a timely manner, try and ship as quickly
as possible (people love it), package items well, use good customer service techniques
(I researched some things online about it and got some great ideas on how to
approach problem solving etc.), keep your pricing as transparent as possible.
All of these things I'm sure you are already doing. I notice people who have
had really bad service previously are more likely to give good reviews for good
service, but we have no control over that.

I'm currently sitting at 50% as well. I am baffled that some sellers I have
bought from did not give me positive feedback as well, not sure what I could
have done differently as a buyer haha.

Have an epic day!

Thanks for your detailed response!
I love your phrase of which way the wind blows haha because it really does seem
to come in waves of when people do and don't. It is also reassuring that
others have a similar return rate to us. I will look into perhaps some ways to
finetune our process more, we are always tweaking here and there to try and improve.

and the bafflement is probably the biggest reason I posted this Message in the forum in the first place, I checked out a couple of buyers to see if any of their other recent orders Feedback was reciprocated and was a little hurt to see they did to other stores but not mine haha! I know I shouldn't take it personally.

Will also work towards thicker skin

Thank you again !

For every page of 50 orders only around 25-30 buyers leave me feedback therefore
around 45% of them don’t

I’ve never prompted a buyer to leave feedback and to save time I don’t actually
leave feedback for them either unless they specifically choose to leave it for
me in which case I return the favour out of courtesy. I generally consider feedback
more of a buyer thing intended for rating sellers and so I don’t believe sellers
should even be able to leave feedback for their customers or at least not negatively

The 100+ feedback you have is more than sufficient for a buyer to order from
you with confidence and even if you tripled your feedback today I doubt it will
make any real difference to the volume of orders you receive. The deciding factors
will simply be having what the buyer needs in terms of selection, quantities,
rarity and/or competitive pricing!

Thanks for the response,

Interesting perspective on the Feedback function too, I have only ever had one
Neutral and it was a new person to BrickLink close to when we opened and it took
me a day or two to get invoices sent out back then and instead of messaging me
directly they left their comment as a Neutral Feedback and I can't get it
off haha! It haunts me!

Anyways, thanks for sharing your experience!
Have a great day

I've been gathering data on the buyer side since Ziegelmeister tried his
feedback experiment.

The feedback issue cuts both ways. I'd be well past earning a blue brick
if all sellers where the order is marked "Complete" would provide me
feedback.

From ~40 orders with me as the buyer (where I've collected data):

~29% of sellers leave feedback immediately after shipment.
~31% of sellers leave feedback within 24 hours of an order being marked "Complete"
~14% of sellers leave feedback 24 hours to 14 days after an order is marked "Complete"
~28% of sellers have not (yet) left feedback. Note: Some will not (and we'll
end up at impasse) because they're in my test group of "Buyer won't
leave feedback first", and their terms state they as a Seller will never
go first.

(Note: Doesn't add to 100% since # shipped orders is more than # completed
orders)

I see no correlation between seller total feedback and the categories above.

There may be correlation between geography and feedback; My overall feedback
rate from US orders is above 90%, Europe is below 70%. [About 60% of these orders
are from Europe]

Of the 14% of delayed response above, about half were items I'd waited some
time and then filed, and I'd only been checking my filed orders due to this
ongoing experiment, so the longer delays could have cost them feedback.

~25% of sellers include a note (or business card) in the shipment about feedback.
This is sometimes phrased as a request to provide feedback, sometimes just "feedback
is valued".

1 Seller directly sent a message through Bricklink asking for feedback (right
after that seller left feedback). Now that I've experienced it, this is
tacky.

More data (related to some other forum threads), but not specifically feedback
related:

~20% of sellers have found errors in their inventory prior to shipment
~20% of sellers have made an incorrect shipment (e.g. missing part) or shipped
a clearly damaged part that was not disclosed (e.g. a chewed technic pin on a
brick)
~66% of orders are issue free

(Note: Doesn't add to 100% since some orders hit both of the first two categories)

2 Sellers have changed status to "Complete" (argh! why is this allowed?!?)
1 Seller repeatedly set the order to "Complete" immediately after shipment
and we got into a reversion battle on the state of the order. This lasted weeks
while the package made its way "across the pond"
1 Seller set order on a tracked package to "Complete" after 3 weeks
even when the tracking showed it hadn't been delivered. Either that or (s)he
can predict the future since it was delivered 2 days later, so I never had to
revert it.

1 NSS so far

~30% of packages included printed inventory (feels correlated to larger orders,
but I didn't track it against that aspect)

Only ~60% of packages made any reference to the order number at all, and had
to be decoded by the address (this is a pain, as names and userids line up only
occasionally, and at one point I had 35+ open orders [plus more Current ones
waiting on sellers to provide feedback] and received 6 packages in one day, so
lots of clicking into orders to figure out what order was in the package!)

Bringing the last item back to getting feedback, one of the best ideas I've
seen is a business card that says (1) Thanks for the order (2) Order number was:
_____ (3) Feedback is appreciated. It's small and lightweight so doesn't
impact small packages, and gets across important messages and context, but doesn't
specifically make an ask, just a nudge that feedback is valuable.

WOW!

Thank you so much for collecting and sharing this data, I am sure many like myself
will find it very valuable!
Lots to glean from this, much appreciated,

-Have a great day

Very interesting data experiment, thank you!

You're missing:
~1% of sellers leave feedback immediately after shipment and are excellent!
(as you weren't in my shop)

I simply HATE this and already cited the definition of Completed in BrickLink
Help:
https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=41
Completed - Package received, contents verified, the order is completed.

How could on Earth a seller tell the order's completed!?
That annoys me SO MUCH that BrickLink allows this

YES this also, as written in the other thread.
What a pure PITA!

Thanks ago for this fine initiative.

To what, to make this kind of stats?

Sure, using the APIs.

Or one may try for example to copy the Orders Placed page and make some VBA in
Excel to analyze the clipboard and populate / update a table and calculate the
numbers you wish?
Gonna take some time to craft...

Easiest, open a spreadsheet and like every day point your orders manually

Do you send out a message asking for them to leave it?

Do you include a note in the order itself seeking it?

I have left feedback with them already but haven't received anything back,
we are still a fairly small operation, but I am confident that I am doing a great
job in quickly getting orders out and packaging contents safely and well so just
wondering if I need to be more bold about how I approach receiving praise from
others because it would help our store greatly!

Thanks for your time,

-Samantha

Leave a note in the order saying you will give them a coupon once they leave
feedback.

It can take a week to three weeks for me to leave feedback, as I leave it in
large batches.

So it is really annoying to have sellers emailing me begging for feedback, as
it wastes my time.

But it is rare that I ever have a seller ask for feedback.

None of the above, Samantha

I once read here in the same forum, reply to a similar yet still common
concern hereabouts. It went something like "Are you here for the feedback
or sales?"

Never offered reply myself at the time, to what was an obvious provocative postulation.
Maybe you'd like take this opportunity to answer that probative question
yourself? If not aloud here, maybe quietly within your own thoughts
