Sometime ago, someone within the "new BL admin" over a long ago forum
post, entirely nuked the “popsicle” account, top to bottom. Let that sink-in
before I continue…
I’ve since received belated apologies and excuses for that action. But fortunately
for us, we had just exited as active sellers, after 20 years here. So I responded
to their very weak and belated offer to fix our standing on BL, with “don’t care
one way or another, do as you will”
Which brings us to popsicle's (20 year veterans of this site) current status.
A membership that has always prided itself on nurturing and defending the very
site we now find ourselves discarded by
Please don’t get me entirely wrong here, it ultimately means one less thing for
me to concern myself over And btw, the expressed “we” in my language, includes
my son and daughter whom could not care less about BrickLink at this
point, if they ever did. They have very full lives after all, and hardly noticed
But now to the salient: Our store's "Fans" standing is but a single
soul. Whereas the actual number is closer to 500. Though as submitted, not really
using the account any longer, so what the heck, right
Oh well, don't mind me. Just killing some time here far from home, waiting
as I often do, on others

I never knew fans could be purged, sorry to hear
Very good. You're always that lightness hereabouts, Jason. Thanks

I've given you a sympathy fan vote, as have two others to bring your total
to 4.
I'm still not sure what the point of making that number public is.

Hold on. You made a long forum post and then someone from Bricklink deleted your
entire inventory?

There was some overzealous purging when the Forum spam management system changed
over. The OP was not the only person this happened to.
Sounds like BL apologized and restored his account but not the fans for his empty
shop? Quite the drama it sounds like!

Just to expand on this a bit further: This all happened several months ago. The
account's selling/buying status was noticed quickly and restored by Russell
with his personal and sincere apologies.
The inventory restoration on the other hand, was beyond Russell's control
other than him trying to influence the techs into performing restoration, sooner
rather than later. I told him not to bother as we were unfortunately just then
in negotiations to move the inventory to a new brick n'mortar start-up here
in Seattle. Bad timing, for sure
But I've always held the attitude that problems are merely opportunity dressed
in work clothing So, we re-inventoried everything! Which gave us the "opportunity"
to confirm and to organize it better for it's new home. Took a few days and
considerable effort, which I personally don't begrudge.
Now when an account gets nuked, there are so many things that go with it... Files
and the like you never consider until they're gone. That whole process,
I took as a hard-earned and valuable lesson.

Though, beyond all of the concerns created by what I view as a somewhat callous
action, is that of removing Fans. Think about it some. It is in fact taking
punitive action against nearly 500 BL members (in our case) that have had their
"Favorite" list altered without cause or notice. In other words, it negatively
impacts other members beyond popsicle. That is "callous"

Expressed as much to BL
In other words, it's not really about the displaying of the stat.
To those after learning of this, that went in and "favored" our profile,
very thoughtful
