Aside from the technical concerns that have already been reported and acknowledged,
(thanks BL for sticking around and answering a few questions here) I still have
some concerns.
--------------------
First off, the BL username = Lego.com nickname hasn't happened yet. Everyone
who is reporting "No problems! I got my username just like I wanted."
You didn't. I still have my username jennnifer even though I linked my account
here to the secondary store-only account on Lego.com I created.
My personal unlinked Lego.com account has the nickname jennnifer.
My now linked Lego.com account has the nickname Old Grey Bricks.
So, this will be a fine pickle when they actually do whatever they are going
to do with the nicknames.
All that happened Thursday is that your BL email, password, login credentials,
and ID pic were replaced.
---------------------
Second, there was much discussion about the Avatars that would replace our ID
pics. If you follow the Forum at all, you read that we (falsely) understood this
to mean the Avatars on Lego.com. Are you telling me that not a single person
at BL read any of that, realized we were on the wrong track, and attempted to
dispel the misinformation?
--------------------
Lastly, the sound effects and animations have to go. A website playing sounds
without user permission is not acceptable. After all, BrickLink is for grown-ups.

Indeed, what I (we?) understood is that 1. the (identity.)LEGO.com avatar would
be used, 2. there would be more modern versions of ALL the default BL ID pics,
3. and NEW ones.
As for dispelling our misconceptions, I see 3 possibilities for the rare BL people
who read the forum:
1. they know but don’t talk, for stupid reasons,
2. they know but can’t talk, for stupider reasons,
3. they are like us: mushrooms (kept in the dark, fed with horse manure¹), for
stupidest reasons.
What’s the hurt in telling us? It’s not like how we react to anything has any
impact on what happens here anyway.
¹ For those who wouldn’t know, that’s how the “champignons de Paris” are grown:
in underground quarries, in boxes of straw and horse manure.

How strange is that, you forgot those who don't know but talk?!
The key is communication.
For now it seems we received a lot (e-mails, help pages), but either it's
not well enough explained, or it doesn't work as they say (bug or the plan
changed ?), or this specific page (?) isn't updated on real time.
People seem to be unhappy and lost.
Personally I'm super lucky. Member name and shop names have always been the
same since the shop, LEGO account also has always been the same. And ID pic,
I really don't care. So that was super smooth for me (apart BrickStore).

I never met one.
(Still talking about BL employees here, not other people on this forum )

Amen.

From the start, we’ve asked for clarifications on some points. Simple questions,
zero answers.

Same for me.
And ID pic, I really don't care.
I do care 😢
And I don’t recognize anyone on the forum anymore, starting with myself.

Some solid hints,
If it’s a long proffesional message, you probably wrote it
If it mentions brickstore 1001bricks wrote it
If it involves pizza or then it’s the mysterious person who is currently questioning
everything as when he went to write he instinctually started to add more and
more
If it’s signed slvyian then it’s the 3rd one
(Sorry if I missed anyone! I Didn’t brain fish my memory more)

If it's complaining and waxing poetic about the past, it's jennnifer.
(Or helping with stickers.)

Same here, we have our username the same as our store name - TheBrickGuys. The
only thing different on Lego.com is that our nickname is The Brick Guys - with
spaces because Lego.com would not accept the name change unless we had the spaces
but it's not a big deal if our BL username changes to having the spaces.
Side note, BrickStore has already had an update and now works fine. After the
update is complete you just need a BL token which BrickStore even has the link
to get one.

I love it whenever BL does a merge. It always makes things so convenient!

+2. The sound effects are wild... they are so loud when you enter your birth
year.
Fortunately for me, I was able to use my bricklink username for the LEGO Account
username.
I'm not looking forward to possibly having to change my store name though...
