Excuse the Beatles reference. Really, no clue why it came to mind in this post

Been away and somewhat disconnected, what is it that a member (such as popsicle)
should do regarding the upcoming demands of TLG upon BL members? Do we need to
create a LEGO account in order to maintain our membership status here on BL?
Being disconnected, I find myself a bit confused on the topic.

Thanks in advance

I don’t think they will delete your bricklink account for not making a lego account
but you might not be able to log in until you do after it takes place, as for
what to do, you need to create a lego account and make sure the username matches
your bricklink username, if it’s already taken you’ll have to change your bricklink
username as I’m pretty sure the lego username will override the bricklink one

“Username” is also called “nickname” on LEGO.com.  They use both terms just to
confuse us.

So, I created a LEGO account. The username you speak of, was auto-assigned using
the email address offered, as username I'm now unable to alter (greyed
out field) I was able to set the nickname however, is that what's required
to match our BL username?

I do believe one is auto assigned at account creation, tho I'm not sure how
long it is until you can update it, I know I could update mine so presumably
you will be able to "soon" (tho hopefully other forum members who did
it recently will have more info). In regards to having them match, its in terms
that as part as I can tell, the username on your lego account will override your
account name on bricklink, so if your name on bricklink is "popsicle"
and your lego account name is "ice cream" them after the syncing, your
bricklink name will be "ice cream" and popsicle wont be your username
anymore, but if you update your lego account name to "popsicle" then
your bricklink name will stay as "popsicle" after the sync

Thanks. Strange, I was not asked to set a username when creating the account,
but instead the email address offered was used It's obvious an email address
can't be published in way usernames are.

Guess I'll take your advise and let some time elapse before attempting the
username setting again. Do you know if there's an announced deadline to all
this silliness?

indeed, its a separate input field that (as far as I know) can only be changed
after signup (tho as you cant change it right now, it seems to have some sort
of delay)

Do you know if there's an announced deadline to all

your going to love this. the official timeline is "fall"

Again, on LEGO.com, once you’re registered and in the menus, it’s called “nickname”
(or its translation).

See https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=2670 , there’s a direct link to
the correct form.
