I snuck into his house, opened up the set, took the images, and ran on foot all
the way back to canada. either that or perhaps myself and other person(s) are
on a discord server with him and talk a bit and he shares some pictures of new
sets he gets and I ask about some parts that are currently undetermined on bricklink
Does it come with 3962a or 3962b? What
is its production date printed on a seal?

Hello, good question! I'm in a Discord server with Nubs and BricksOfFaith
so we talk a lot.
To some, it might rub people the wrong way, but I have been opening numerous
sets from the 1980s and 1990s because I love LEGO sets from the past. I take
good care of them, of course, but people would be shocked by the destruction
of value just by cutting a few seals.
Majority of the sets come from one American seller in particular here on Bricklink
who might still be holding a sealed copy of Galaxy Explorer 497-1 for a mint.
Most of his sets are sealed from the 1970s-1990s and we speak a bit through email.
Great guy, though I'm still not sure how he managed to get such an impressive
collection of vintage sets. Time-traveler perhaps?
At any rate, I get paid biweekly from a job in tech and so I treat myself with
a few sets from him every time I get paid. Then I kinda open them and build...
Most recent new purchase for Victory Lap Raceway was me. Will post those images
you requested momentarily in a different post.

This is I think 3358 which mean 33th week in 1988 so you get a relatively early
production of this set and I guess there was a catalog from 1988 in the box.
The copy right @1988 means nothing other than the set was released in 1988 and
its box was designed in 1988.
I think there should be copy right years @1988, 1989 for those copies produced
in 1989 or later becasue TLG changed box designs of many sets in 1989 and added
a second copy right year @1989.
If your copy was for example from 1990-91 or so, we could have expected to see
3962b instead of 3962a.
