Hi,

I am a bit confused on what should be done with international orders that have
a Bricklink VAT Receipt available to download.

For orders like this in the past, I have printed the receipt and then tapped
it to the letter or parcel, as I thought that was necessary for customs to be
able to see this, so the customer did not have to pay VAT twice. Is this necessary
and the ideal way to do it?

I also see there is a IOSS number - does that need be shared with the courier
as well as the printed receipt, or either or?

I have had no complaints about VAT yet, but I'm not sure if I am doing it
the best way.

Thanks for your help,

Lindsay

AFAIK, invoices always need to be attached to packages… even though no one ever
reads them.

The IOSS (EU) must ABSOLUTELY be forwarded ELECTRONICALLY.  The courier should
have a field for it.

Then either your buyers have been very lucky or they didn’t tell you, because
if the IOSS is not transmitted electronically, neither the Customs nor the courier
check the papers and they (double-)tax the recipient, with basically no recourse.

You may also need to check this non-VAT-but-similar neighbour country:

US sales taxes are not federal and therefore not checkd at customs but you can
still freshen up on how it works:

And this country is only important to you if you BUY from abroad :

Thanks so much for the reply - I'll be submitting the IOSS from now on.
