I am new bricklink user and I wanted to verify my account and payment methods.

But when I got to verifying payment method, I paid the test transaction in my
bank app, then the verification of my personal document failed, the customer
support stopped replying to my messages and 1000 Euro is just gone, it wasn't
sent back. I need the money, It's almost my whole monthly wage. I only paid
this test transaction because I didn't notice the payment was 1000 Euro wich
is ridiculously high for a test transaction.
If this isn't resolved to my liking, I will never use this website and I
will recommend poeple to never use this website. Horrible user experience

You have been scammed. Contact your police office and your bank immediately!

Bricklink does not verify your account with a test payment. Bricklink does not
take any payments, it all goes though third parties like PayPal or stripe.

You have been scammed. Contact your police office and your bank immediately!

Bricklink does not verify your account with a test payment. Bricklink does not
take any payments, it all goes though third parties like PayPal or stripe.

You sent 1000 Euro without checking the amount, verifying the origin of the sender,
or checking to make sure this was the standard procedure. I would be furious
too!

BL can't defend you from scammers if you don't look out for yourself.
But I guess it's okay to blame them for your user experience?

Sorry to hear you got scammed, all message should include a note at the top the
specifically states that the message is not from bricklink. Was that missing
on your message?

app? In every bank app I have, I have to enter tge account details, and the payment
amount, then get warnings about scams and if anyone has asked me to make this
payment, then they check the account name and other security features such as
sending a text. Even if you don't have security features, can they really
send a link so the sender doesn't realise how much they are transferring?
This seems very strange.

I finally saw a copy of the message. This was posted on reddit a couple of days

They still have the disclaimer thing but then right below it is a goofy looking
"no, we're totally legit" line.

There are still many flags in it. The warning at the top, the lack of name even
though the user has given their name, the use of little images in the text, the
offer of free money, poor capitalisation, poor English, using links rather than
onsite links during the registration process.

Yes correct. I'm referring to the question about the links and whatnot.

Like most of you I grew up with the internet so I've seen everything and
this one is actually a total hack job IMO and it's patently obvious - as
a native english speaker - that this is bogus. I don't know if the OP received
their message in their native language, but if they got the message I attached,
it might seem completely legit to them.

but I doubt they will.

How? Do you mean by stopping users sending messages?

Just to get some ideas how to do it. Look at parties who are dealing with large
amounts of phising en scams. My e-mail provider at least makes sure that messages
that are flagged as phising do not contain any clickable links and pictures are
blocked. I have to actively click them open to see them. Should be doable for
Bricklink messages as well. Or at least do not make links clickable which
go outside bricklink. Or like my local marketplace, make a popup warning that
you are going to leave the site. Explain what could happen. Or let the admins
make a whitelist of domains which are trusted. For example to rebrickable, or
some trusted picture servers.
