Sadly in very poor condition but found this in my bulk lots.

No idea why it was a special trial pack.

Anyone understand the white label stuck to the front, ignore what appears to
be a partially removed Tesco price label.

Thanks, I expect you’re right, this being the U.K. version.

Sad is not a word I would use as I weep. 100% I'd buy that in a nice box
from you Stuart. I actually remember that being one of several gifts from my
grandmother during secondary school xmas holidays.

I think you will find is was a part of a weird advertising deal kinda deal, which
also had a promo attached to it.

For example I have all the original 6 sets....grandma again I was spoiled by
grandma. I was 9 in 1977. But I vividly remember in those early years as a kid
getting cool posters with "special edition technic sets". Those that
had had no special edition markings were stand alone with no freebies/gwp's.
I also remember and I might be wrong but I am 95% certain they were seasonal
and the first release said "new" on it. Then "special edition"
and then "it was just a box".

I dont believe special edition meant UK or anywhere else for that matter, I think
it referred to what you now know as GWP.
