I have a lot of one time users who purchases sets and 95% of the are awesome
at instant checkout out.
Last couple of months I have had several cancellations, I did not NPB and the
rules perhaps suggest I either should, could have or should have.
My own rules are:
1. If the "buyer" communicates with me of the cancellation intention
within 5 days I will cancel and will not block that person.
2. If the buyer does not communicate with me I advise them by message they need
to pay the Order on the 3rd day.
3. If the buyer remains silent I NPB after 5 days and allow that NPB process
to run its course and also block that person.
A "lego friend" suggested I was being a butthead because some people
don't understand. I take the view the ToS is exactly that and they were given
the opportunity to "communicate" rather than stay silent.

More than a reasonable way to handle, I use the same process

Good.

YEP!

Your lego friend "Opinion" is what it is... You are more reasonable with
your method. Giving anyone a PASS like some will suggest here causes a little
bit of Entitlement and do whatever they want with no respect of the situation.
I have ZERO tolerance for Lack of Communication. Just think of it this way.
IF you the seller missed something YOU KNOW dam well your gonna here about it.
About NPB, I don't use any policy. I can wait until a month or even more.
It doesn't matter, chances are the same items wouldn't be sold anyway
- and buyers can have issues - they'll thank you later and your fan for life
if you've been patient.
NSS as a buyer is rare. The last one I posted it after 2 months waiting. But
there's been communications and explanations in between. Guy really have
had a postal problem. It's fixed, NSS removed.
I've enough deadlines IRL to be fan of them on BrickLink. When a shop says
"You've 48hrs or 5 days or 7 days before I do this or that" (some
with no possible discussion) I Least Fav it and do everything to avoid it.
