Hello,

In the past week we received 6 Onsite payment orders where the Paypal transaction
FAILED and payment was not captured, yet an official order came through.

We cannot change the payment status because Bricklink governs Onsite payment
orders.
Yet Bricklink acknowledges and is aware that there was a payment problem, telling
us not to ship these orders.

A simple solution: in the case where payment fails for onsite orders, and Bricklink's
system is aware of this potential error, then allow sellers to manually over
ride the payment status and resend invoice with the onsite payment button active
like normal.

You can even add a prompt to make sure the seller has to acknowledge that payment
was in fact not received before resetting the onsite payment status.

---
Additional solution: please resolve the internal issue that caused this in the
first place.. It seems we're not the only store that has been affected by
this onsite payment error.

Thank you,
Nate

I've found that if you go on PayPal and locate the order, there will be no
payment attached and you can cancel it.

Once it has been canceled on PayPal, you can then edit the order and set it as
unpaid.

I've had this happen and the buyer had to contact their credit card company
as they were flagging the payment as fraudulent when they tried to pay again,
but in the end it worked.

But yeah, going directly on PayPal to locate the transaction will allow you to
cancel it since there is no payment received.

Does anyone happen to know when this issue first started, please? (The date)

I assumed the exclamation mark indicated those rare "e-cheque" PayPal
payments, which in the past always went through eventually..
I've been sending all them orders and marking them shipped as per usual.
Now that they're marked as shipped, I no longer see which ones were affected
by this glitch There were a good few from memory.

I have one of them showing today - after checking in PayPal, there's no trace
of payment anywhere..

A date when the issue started would help me know how far back I need to go through
EVERY order and check if payment went through.
Just under 200 orders in February alone.. this is going to be fun, ***, fun
..

Hey Nate,

Just fyi. In late January / early February, this happened in my store with 3
different customers. One never got resolved. Another the issue was a buyer trying
to use a PayPal gift card and credit card together, but one or the other didn’t
work. That order was cancelled and they reordered. No problem. Third order is,
by far, the most interesting. Buyer patiently waited 7 business days for the
payment to clear. It did not clear. So, we agreed to cancel the order. By this
time, I had gone into PayPal and disabled e-check as an accepted form of payment.
About a week later (two and a half weeks after the original order), this buyer
ordered again and their payment cleared instantly. The buyer wrote, “I think
I found what happened. There was an order that never came back to me to verify
and it was still sitting there it was a $5 order and until that order was filled
nothing else would happen so I went ahead and paid that $5 bill I don't even
know what I bought for $5 but I paid it so I'll be receiving something thank
you”

Hope this helps you in some way.

Has Bricklink responded to this issue yet? Is there a workaround. Anyone try
disconnecting and reconnecting their paypal account? Is this issue being worked
on?

I see this same issue occurring for many sellers and buyers, not only my own,
but those that have posted here in the forum and many more who have posted in
other forums like facebook groups and such.

Anyways, just bumping this post because I had another failed payment today and
I have 2 from last week. And more going back about 4 weeks or so. All but one
of my buyers have been understanding and it would be nice to have a main thread
to direct them to when I explain the issue if there is one I missed?

Have you tried disabling e check payments in your PayPal? It’s not confirmed
and just a a theory that even tho these payments arent e checks PayPals backend
might “consider” them as such as so far I haven’t heard reports of it happening
to any stores who have that disabled (but there has only been minimal responses
so it may be wrong)

This. And I would also place a PayPal phone call!
