I was going about my morning business and stopped by the OPP station and I see
a cherry red dodge caravan with a light bar on top, I think "Huh, that's
the mail van, I wonder what's up?"
Later I stop by the PO, and the post master says that the driver got arrested
on purpose for speeding and the mail van got confiscated!
The reason, because he used to work for the dump but didn't like the way
things where being run, eventually he left but still had a beef, so he hoped
he would get arrested for speeding so he could complain to the judge about it.
Now he's in jail, the van is down and it won't get picked up till the
weekend likely, and he has lost his job. The funny thing is that the guy who
gaurds the jail is also the guy who runs the dump
So store will be closed till some time next week if they can get their mess sorted
out.

small towns are wild!
The police where kind enough to deliver the mail this morning, they had nothing
else to do as almost everyone is in T-bay

I'm born/raised big city, we had mail trucks that were jeeps like 35 years
ago, and now are I believe sprinter or transit vans. All with clear markings.
Nice vehicles.
I'm in a small town now (do not recommend) and they let the letter carriers
use their own vehicles. Usually really old japanese minivans, but I've also
seen old jeeps from at least the early 90's (because they are right hand
drive)
the "don't hit me" lights are just kinda... bungee corded onto them.
The vehicles usually have bad paint and what I've started calling "truck
herpes" (rust) eating off the doors.
Not sure if things have changed last ~10 years, but being a Canada Post "delivery
guy" sucks donkey balls. Friend of ours did that for a bit in the boonies.
He got paid for number of items that needed to be delivered. The "how"
was all up to him. If recipients weren't home or parcels could not be delivered
for some reason, it was basically "sucks to be you", no payment for time
on the job or gas wasted no matter how long it took. Some days the costs he
would make delivering items would outstrip the pay, so he'd be paying to
do this job instead of earning money.
So he switched to driving a school bus mornings and afternoons, which was a better
job. That alone kinda tells you all you need.

Need clarification "You get arrested for speeding and taken to jail along
with having your vehicle impounded" where you live? Here you get a ticket
unless you have a warrant out for your arrest, are intoxicated, or are exceeding
the speed limit by more than 25 mph. Seemed a little harsh from the cheap seats!

The limit on the highway is 80k, the cops let people go 100k, I know people who
always drive 120k on the highway, but this summer a community member had a horrific
crash with a sewer-sucker truck that was speeding(at least at 150k), after that
they have been cracking down as it was the 2nd death that summer.
Here you get a ticket
Here too but not this time, a mail driver has already died on the highway from
speeding.

Damn! Sounds like a hardcore hood, where you crib
Wait! We are after all, talking about Canada, right? Let me rephrase then: Sounds
like an underprivileged and demographically unfortunate, less than a safe space

He was let out this morning, a guy left about a hour before he was let out but
later the mail guy passed him on the highway. He learned nothing.

You mean victim? That's the correct name up here
We have our intellect and our consciousness, often at odds
Those that allow events unfolding around them to define and occupy their consciousness,
consider themselves victim and as such, will experience higher entropy, fear
and unhappiness in life. Instead, contemplate how you might react to events and
to others, that allow for decreased entropy, fear and uncertainty. That is to
say, adjust behavior.
Victimhood is a self-centered ethic. But good news, as an ethic, it can
and should continuously be examined and adjusted for a healthy fit within the
conscience. Less fear and more happiness, by thinking less of yourself and more
of others. Can't do that as a victim
Sunday morning over-caffeinated thoughts, is all. Nothing more...

You got it
But good news, as an ethic, it can and should continuously be examined and adjusted for a healthy fit within the conscience. Less fear and more happiness, by thinking less of yourself and more of others. Can't do that as a victim
Indeed, every time something doesn't swing their way they just resort to
"I'm a vitim!" basicly blaming the issue on others, even though it
was their own actions that got them there.
