US based seller and just had a buyer from Mexico place an order from me. I use
Pirate Ship to print labels and it appears for Mexico I am now required to enter
a recipient tax ID number? (See the part about Mexico on Pirate Ship’s guide)
Bricklink never collected this information so I have to ask the buyer for it
correct? Any other US based sellers run into this problem?

https://support.pirateship.com/en/articles/4457315-what-is-a-recipient-tax-id-for-international-shipments-and-is-it-required

Thank you!

Thank you!

I checked and from 2025 on, DHL needs it too (RFC/CURP)

I think it would be great if BrickLink gave the option to sellers for automatically
asking for this number at checkout, the same way it works with Phone Number already.

More and more countries are requiring the Tax Identification Number or similar.

Namely:

India
Peru
Brazil
Argentina

an now

Mexico

Sure there are and will be many more to follow.

Yes I agree this would be very handy. I have a 0 feedback buyer from Mexico who
purchased and is not responding to messages so not super sure what I should do.
Have already tried reaching out 3 times over the past few days.

Yeah, I know the drill, been there myself.

Did you try via whatsapp? One of my costumers, after several BrickLink messages
and email attempts I took the liberty to contact him via whatsapp, and that made
the trick.

Of course he told me that it was not necessary*, but eventually gave me the info
I needed to carry on with the shipment.

(*Sometimes buyers are caught by surprise either)

Good luck!

Yes, but at Help Desk you'll have a Ticket Number.

BTW: the ticket number corresponds to the number of seconds you've to wait.
