need to be updated yearly. So a live connection to average sales prices would
be beneficial.

try brickstore. its a free application. simply download it, (possibly connect
your bricklink account) and then add your sets to the list. then select them
all to update the price to the current average as needed

Export your collection as XML and then import the file in BrickStore as Nubs
said.
Import/Export button is at the top right of the Add dialog on top of your collection
of sets.
You need to export each tab separately (Sets, Minifigs, Parts).
