Finding it difficult to navigate, got too used to old layout.
I’ll get there but not enjoying trying to find things that took me seconds to
use in the past.
Not a criticism as I suspect the new layout will work well when I get a better
understanding of where to find things.
I’m old and not good with changes to my routines.
Same here, it seems you now need multiple clicks to do the same thing as one
click in the better version. I cannot see what the benefit of this change is.

Agreed, it can be difficult to see the benefit of this change (and future updates!)
right away. There are less visible, but necessary, improvements under-the-hood
that are happening to the website.
The foundations of BrickLink were laid long ago, and the old software development
paradigms have sometimes hampered the modern development of the platform. Your
BrickLink Team is taking time to carefully re-engineer the site so that we can
deliver more quickly on suggestions from the community. This new navigation
menu is part of that ongoing effort. The new navigation will evolve. Probably
not back to exactly where it started from, but it will mature.
We strive to fairly balance what seasoned users and new users request and require,
which can be challenging given the diverse community BrickLink serves.

indeed, it can be quite difficult when there are many different members from
all backgrounds. When I try to put myself in the shoes of someone who has never
ordered from bricklink before or even been to the site before, I think the new
header is probably more friendly than the old one. However, the tradeoff is that
older users loose many things that they frequently use with the old setup.

Thanks, Eric. That's all I need to hear. And I assume that new updates to
the navigation bar will be easier to accomplish within the new code base? So,
hopefully, some tweaks will be right around the corner?

Looking forward to bringing BL into the modern age.
The diversity is why there are tools out there like Tampermonkey that allows
one to customize their experience on any website.
Theoretically, one could even replicate the December 15th version of Bricklink,
as a majority of the links are still valid.
However, one would probably just create a script that shows only what a specific
user is interested in.
For example, catalog maintainers could have a script that lays out what they
need to do for their catalog work.
Sellers could have what they need to fulfill their orders, maintain inventory,
communicate with buyers, etc.
The possibilities are nearly as endless as the combinations of Lego Bricks.

Let's hope that you get enough new users to replace the old ones that sell
and buy. Personally I cannot see any benefit in these changes for new or existing
marketplace users.
I don't know what the value of people that only use studio, for example,
is. Presumably there is non-financial benefit to LEGO from those users. Is it
worth losing the goodwill of existing marketplace users that generate fees by
changing the site to suit those that don't generate fees? I imagine the answer
is yes given the way these changes are implemented without user testing them.

If you do some raw numbers seems the Bricklink Designer Program is quite profitable
and maybe that is why it now it's the center of the new navigation and the
one that occupies the most, they could drop the Bricklink word from it to make
it more compact and not have it repeated twice on the top... It would leave more
space for the search:

Nope, they can’t, really. It was like that before (and it still is for forum
topic) and people think it’s about Studio, because they are looking for the computer
program to make your own designs, and they don’t remember the word
Studio or it doesn’t catch as much as “design(er) program.”
The problem is having chosen the word “program” for ADP. “Oh, let’s start a
program to make people use our program!”
Smurf talk 🤦

Gotcha!
Sorry, but you’re the only one who reads “BrickLink Designer Program” in this
configuration
Everybody reads “BrickLink” and then “Designer Program”… if they read “BrickLink”
at all, as it’s in another font.
They should have gone with BMI: BrickLink MOC Initiative

Yes, no doubt it does make a ton of money for LEGO and hence why they want to
have it highlighted in the menu on every page. As I said elsewhere, I think the
BDP/ADP was a significant player in why they bought BL in the first place, and
it is one of the three 'tools' they have here. As marketplace users,
many existing BL users might not like it but Studio and BDP are becoming important
tools for LEGO to sell more product.

99% of my personal LEGO building adventures start with Studio. After I design
a model in Studio, I make Wanted Lists, pull from my parts stash, adjust my Wanted
Lists, create carts on BrickLink, look for more cool stuff in those BrickLink
stores to add to the carts, buy, wait, wait for that last order, build, and voilà...
I realize my Studio model.
So, Studio does drive sales in the Marketplace. How much? TBH, Studio and the
Marketplace are not instrumented to collect data to objectively quantify this
(we aren't that nosy, yet, believe it or not).
I guess my point is the LEGO experience is many things to many people. In my
local LUG, we've got minifig experts, DUPLO part aficionados, walking encyclopedias
of vintage parts and sets - they are all part of the community that loves LEGO
building/collecting/hoarding. The BrickLink Team strives to organize the site
for a variety of users and experience. We talk to and test with a lot of people
- but with a lot of people come a lot of (differing) opinions. With your help,
we can continue to hone the utility of BrickLink, ensure it is inviting to the
uninitiated, but still useful for the seasoned user.

It's like remodeling a house. Some walls you can just knock out willy nilly,
no problem. Others need careful engineering to be able to make sure the project
going forward doesn't collapse as a whole.

Besides, in the BL house, when you knock out a wall, there’s pipes and wires
that pull at the other walls.

I'm not one to complain about the site, but I just spent about 10 mins being
pretty vocal at my laptop. I'll learn but not a good first impression.
Can anyone ELI5 how to fix the search bar at the top of my screen? I literally
can't see what I'm typing in its compressed. A display setting somewhere?
I've been navigating the site with that bar for everything, now I can't
do anything.

I am a 73 year old lego fan and I am having the hardest time with the new layout..
I can't find anything I need.. finally found my wanted list but still can't
find the "appears in" which I used all the time. I am a bit frustrated
at the moment.

been using pretty much the same interface for over 20 years, it's going to
take a few minutes to figure out the new one.

Agree 100%. I am 73 and now dislike even going to bricklink because it wears
my brain out just trying to find the basic things I use.. so very frustrating..
