How do I purchase directly from a supplier or factory?
I assume the prices available here include a profit for the seller, but where
do the large sellers buy their blocks?
For example, if I want to buy 5,000 pieces of new red 2x4 (3001) blocks, I can
see that the cheapest is 0.194 EUR per piece. But where did the seller buy theirs?
I assume at a significantly lower price?
Recipe is super simple: invest in a Toys Brick & Mortar shop, be ready to contractually
spend 1/4 million € per year at LEGO (maybe). Then you'll have many Sets
you don't wish, but also Sets you'd like: sort them at low salary price
(pick well your Country).
There are other solutions, more complicated.

For 30K USD I will tell you everything I know to make 300K a year in sales. A
small investment with a big return for years to come.
This includes support afterwards and tips I haven't learned yet.
Things you will need,
1. living in the USA
2. 100K to start your store
3. no life at all, working 18/7
4. common sense
Deal?
Step 3, he's not lying. I closed my store in 2012 and just reopened this
summer. Time basically stood still for 12 years. I am doing a combination of
sorting what I want to keep for my personal collection while at the same time
adding items to my store that I hope I can do without. I can see progress but
still have a ways to go and I don;t think I will ever get to the "finally
done with sorting phase". If someone was to ask me if they should start
selling, I would basically say everything you guys said. I basically spend my
weekends and a few hours each night after work sorting, listing, and questioning
if I will ever have time to build again.

step three:
forever sorting:
Someone stated it really well a few years ago when someone said they wanted to
start a store because they love LEGO and someone responded "Don't do
it because you love LEGO. You're not gonna be doing that. Do you ove sorting
and counting?"
I would also say this. Unless you go big I cannot see how anyone is capable
of doing this and making a decent living. I started doing it as a way of getting
rid of stuff I would get and didn't collect back in the day when you could
actually go on EBay and find decent stuff. The stuff I am listing or have for
sale is some of that and the rest is stuff I bought for a future build or some
project that I abandoned. If I were paying myself I would probably be making
50 cents an hour. I do enjoy getting orders and helping others out, but I will
be very happy when I get most of it sold.

Take this one to heart. Its written with integrity and sincerity.

If that's what you would like to do you might be able to reach out to the
LEGO Company in Billund and see what options are available to you. I don't
sell here, I'm just a long time buyer, but I've cultivated purchasing
lots from folks on eBay where I've built my store. I'm small time compared
to the heavyweights here that have tons more experience then I do though.

Most sellers do it by buying sets at retail or on clearance and selling the pieces
individually. Some have special deals of some kind, but they don't share
that with me and they won't share it with you.
