will it automatically change to completed after a certain period of time or will

Agreed. And if you still feel the need to contact them maybe make your request
as innocent sounding as possible, maybe just by saying something like "I
noticed that you have not marked your order with us as complete so I was just
following up to make sure that everything with the order was okay". If after
that they mark it as complete then great, but if not, I would just let it go.
As a buyer, their end of the bargain is basically completed once they pay for
the order and if they mark the order as complete and leave a positive feedback,
that is all bonus for us as sellers.

Agreed. And if you still feel the need to contact them maybe make your request

I have been here before and a polite message usually gets the order marked as
completed but I don't like to and should not have to, I just thought that
after 3 or 4 weeks it should automatically update to completed as the buyer has
had plenty of time to raise any issue. It's a seasoned buyer with a few hundred
feedback who should understand what the received status is used for, plus it
Was just one item, a new sticker sheet which could have been marked as completed
as soon as the package is opened with no need for received status in the first
place. I will have 1 Order in my store for 6 months (auto completed after 4 weeks
would work for all)... thoughts ?

Fair comment I get it some buyers/sellers are a lot busier than myself, I don't
think in this case that is the issue but understand it could apply to others...

got that many incoming orders?, I don't ship to Canada but if I did... you're

I have lots to do so orders often get left until I have some free time
which can sometimes take a while

it annoyed me as I only deal in new/sealed sets. Sure I have a handful of other
crap in my store, but 99.9% is sealed sets.

So I was annoyed as I could see not reason not to mark it "completed".
4 weeks later still nothing. I didn't want to bug the buyer because I didn't
want bad feedback.

I filed it as received and have not given it another thought.

I also banned the buyer from my store for not holding up his end of the completed
transaction.

as "received" Furthermore, once a buyer files an order as "received"
it seems the ability for the seller to make further changes to the status, is
removed.

3 times, I thought that member given he had 200 plus reviews as a buyer.....well
I thought he would know better and I felt somewhat disrespected.

I would not have done the same thing to someone who had 0-10 reviews, because
I think some of them just dont know.

But yes I did cut my nose off to spite my face. No I wont change that decision,
I am at peace with it

well clearly the person was a good buyer, he had over 200 positive reviews. He
was a buyer only.

He did instant checkout. That was it not another peep after that....100% silence.

You are all right, and I am wrong. But there was just something about the transaction
I never want to do again. I felt it was so weird the way it went down that all
he wanted was to generate some paperwork to get our personal details and was
prepared to pay to get that. Because facts facts once we do a transaction we
become somewhat naked. Which I have seen before in my previous occupation.

It was just weird, I didnt like it, whereas most sellers would love this customer.

want bad feedback.

I filed it as received and have not given it another thought.

My original post was about an order left in 'received' status and how
best to solve it, if I don't want to deal with that buyer again that is my
choice. As to your question: I don't block buyers for not marking an order
as completed or not leaving feedback I guess that is optional to some, but
is it that hard to say 'completed' as for feedback a 'positive'
"thank you" would be polite and much appreciated... I dont like ignorant
buyers but I dont block them... if I do that is my choice as 'completed'
& "thank you" is the buyers choice.

No, it isn't that hard. But you just can't reasonably expect professionalism
from your customers. They run the whole spectrum. Some of them send me links
to pictures of what they built and are building. Most of them never say a word.
Some of them gush in their feedback. Others never do another thing after confirming
their payment. What they wanted was LEGO for their project. They don't
necessarily want to engage with you or anybody at all.

I get it. I do. You are restoring sets because it is meaningful to you to get
something nice ready for somebody and it would be nice if they felt the same
way as you do. But they don't necessarily. Some of them will never have
any idea the effort you put into it. But how you feel about it doesn't change
it. The sooner you let it go, the happier you'll be.

I would strongly encourage you to not do that. I have a smattering of anal retentiveness
with a dash of OCD just like the rest of you, so I get it. I don't like
a jumbled up list of statuses (stati?), but blocking people for it is both petty
and potentially detrimental to your business.

I had a guy place a huge order back in February for something like 18,000 pieces
in 30 lots. It was easy to pick but just really time consuming to count even
with a counting scale. I got it pulled in a few hours, built an intricate system
of cardboard compartments inside the box to protect everything and shipped it
same day. It was delivered 45 hours after they placed the order, 1400 miles
away. I was really proud of myself to be honest, but I didn't hear a peep
out of them. They never changed the status, or read any messages. I was petty
and removed my feedback for them and fought the urge to block them because I
knew I wasn't being rational.

Well, flash forward 10 months and they are my highest revenue buyer by an extremely
wide margin. Not only are they buying my highest margin pieces but they're
placing the same order every 5-6 weeks. They've still not left a single
feedback and only marked one order as received. I get a little perturbed with
them every now and then but I remind myself that I'm here to make money,
not to collect feedbacks or hound people to change statuses.

Moral of the story; just be like Elsa.

are all different, for you it's revenue for me it's a hobby & "thank

over time. I am still running as hobby.
But i can point out many things buyers don’t do, other than marking orders complete.
Let me think: leaving feedback,….
Please ban them and send them a message they are welcome in my store. I send
them their order and won’t bother to send them any message asking them soing
