I have had an influx of new members Ordering from me. 4 during the last week.
1 paid immediately and got there set within 5 days.
2 are on a NPB, and 1 Ordered from me just an hour ago, so what if it takes them
a day or 2 to pay.
I don't feel right just limiting people who can by from me "ie: must
have had no negative reviews and must have 5 transactions".
But the issue for me is I do an invoice to get payment and they have 100% of
our personal information and phone number. I don't know if they are scamming
or not.
I don't want to discriminate against anyone either.

sadly nothing. before i started bricklink i cared at least a little about my
privacy but ever since I started bricklink I've had to throw that all away
as anyone can place a bogus order to get my name, address, email, and (i think)
phone number. ebay, amazon, etc dont show any of that stuff which is nice. brickowl
shows some but they dont show emails at least

I am feeling the same way Nubs. And the last Order Paypal and Bricklink just
sent me a message after a payment was made that they are holding the payment
for 24hrs.
I am just lacking confidence in the system given all the recent scams with new
users. Again I dont want to discriminate.
For example the last Order was $1,400.00. I am not selling "parts". Generally
my orders are always over $400.00

i remember the good ol days when paypal did that with me then shortly after
they needed a certain document which i uploaded but then they rejected it like
15 times in a row but randomly they accepted it (the exact same document) and
since then I've had no problems with them

if it helps at all, at least in terms of scam buyers who scam in terms of saying
packages haven't arrived, etc. those are generally rare. I've shipped
several dozen orders of large expensive sets including with 0 feedback just registered
users who sent it to a shipping forwarding company in another country yet I've
had no problems with any. as for phishing ones who might try to, for example,
steal my pizza or such that's where business insurance comes in, I'm
planning on getting some soon which should hopefully help put my mind at ease
for that (on a side note does anyone have experience with "Zensurance"
as that's what I'm considering)

That hold is a Paypal/Bricklink initiated thingy. Nothing to do with me. My monthly
volume of finances through paypal is generally more than the average annual wage
in canada.
I might add first time I have ever had a hold too. I doubt its the size of the
transaction because I have had successful sales between 2800-3500 several times.
That one is above average I admit, but average by historical standards

sounds like the buyer may have used an e-check then. you probably already know
but its best to not ship said orders until the check clears

lol, I wont even be doing a shipping label until its cleared.

I think it's unfair to other sellers. Should they only bear the risk with
new customers? If everyone does that, there will be no more new buyers!
When I buy something, I want to know who I'm buying it from! As a buyer,
I always ask ebay for the seller's details. I don't pay before that!

it only forces new buyers to use instant checkout and it doesn't block them
entirely

Also a valid point from that buyer perspective. I am the same. I have had perhaps
50 purchases in the last 6 months for around 30k. So yes I also like to know
what's going on in regards who I am buying from.

So if you don't know why are you thinking they could be scamming you?
There's the risk to get paranoid too, you should wory about this
As a high value merchant (Sets), desirables products, you'll have FAR more
compulsives orders, and people buying "as a joke" or as a kind of generic
social revenge as they simply can't afford this luxury. While it's not
an excuse, you may understand their position.
Also, and here anyway, companies have to fully disclose their address etc., you
can't hide this and you have to show it.
Somewhere it may limit buyers being scammed by lamba anonymous sellers who rule
they've no responsabilities (see usual Terms: "After shipping I'm
not responsible for anything".

indeed, if its officially registered then that can be found publicly somewhere
however aside from that I dont think we have laws like that here as whenever
I purchase from eBay or Amazon (including when from a 3rd party seller), I don't
see any details about the seller even if they are fully registered and such.

Hoping all this helps?
I will get over it I guess. I have sold hundreds of sets over the years. Its
just the last week-2 weeks on this site that I have questioned the level of confidence.
Probably from a sudden surge in NPB's etc.

Don't forget the current weeks are special, we're just before XMas.
I don't see abnormaly more problems this year than the past ones. Of course
I don't have any stats BrickLink has, and I may simply be lucky.
But yes I get the envy of others
Absolutely, that counts a lot.
You sell sealed iPads, I sell their screws & bolts
I often envy you also

*cough cough* Canada post strike causing people worried about mail *cough cough*
You're talking a French about strikes?
We've got this like every year, what's your problem newbie?
It may have effects in regards orders and buyers being concerned. But I can Assure
you sets I am sending are still going to Ontario in 3 days, vaiour states in
America in 4-5 days. Netherlands in 11 days. I dont know what all the fuss is
about

Lol, yeah um given my history on this planet I strongly recommend no ones tries
that because I wont hesitate.

Hey, i don't know if this is valid considering i am from a completely different
country, but i invested in a PO Box here in Australia so i wasn't giving
out my personal address on every order. They know what town i come from sort
of, but that is it. It costs about $130AUD for a year, but if someone is worried
about it, it might be worth the investment. Not sure what is on offer in Canada.
Also, you don't have to give your phone number do you? I have never entered
my phone number and i have done over 9500 transactions on Bricklink without one.
I had thought there was a discussion in the past and they stated that store addresses
had to be the address that the inventory was located at. I may be mistaken but
unfortunately that would rule out PO boxes however you seem to have had no problem
with it so perhaps I’m mistaken?

Mmmm, i have never heard that. I guess there is so many different rules these
days in so many different countries so not sure.
Where I live, many people don't have a choice but have a PO Box because of
remote locations.
As you said, i have not had a problem so i will continue with that

When I went through the new sellers verification it did state that the store
address needed to be where your inventory is. It might also be different from
when you started.
