I have been a BL buyer for a long time now. I started out using it to complete
a few sets I had when I was a kid. Then I started buying incomplete sets and
building those out. All of a sudden that grew into a sizable collection for the
average person. Now I have 7 homeschooled children and we started a Lego business
on the side to have fun, teach them the basics on operating a small business
and, to have fun! We love Legos, we love the Bricklink community and all other
platforms out there where people are buying and selling, but mostly BL for its
ease of use and enormous global supply of bricks.
That said, I am now a seller on BL and I would love any constructive feedback
on the store we put together.

just a heads up the plural of Lego is "Lego" there is no s
now to the constructive feedback part you requested
you have
"I will offer to disassemble every piece of a set for a fee ranging from
$5-$25 depending on size of set."
in your terms, however, the sets you have for sale are listed as "100% complete,".
how are you able to confirm they are 100% complete if it's not taken apart
and checked brick by brick against the bricklink inventory? if you haven't
taken it apart to confirm the inventory then they can't be listed as complete
as there may be missing parts
"If you receive an item that is cracked or broken I will replace but I will
need proof with a picture within 24 hours of receiving product."
however, with Paypal and banks buyers have up to 6 months after a purchase to
file a claim so an arbitrary 24 hour window seems a little weird.
Best of luck with your store and hopefully your kids learn lots! some bonus fun
facts they may want to keep in mind when selling are that the seller is always
responsible for the shipment until it's marked as delivered regardless of
tracking/insurance, there is always more to learn and always to have fun!

Thank you very much for the feedback! I have been saying Lego with an s since
my first set and I obviously never grew out of that. I'll work on that. I
also go back and forth between LEGO and Lego...
I may just remove that disassemble offer. I should clarify on the terms that
I build the sets myself and confirm all the bricks are accounted for. That is
my process to get replacement pieces as needed. I usually buy sets and they come
in chunks of the set and I'd prefer someone disassemble 100% so that we can
at least go through the fun of building and confirming pieces.
I agree. I'm going to kill that replacement policy in the 24 hour period
window as it is all subjective.
Thanks again for replying and making me think through some of these things!

Yes - your buyers will also prefer the sets to be disassembled (and they will
be much easier to ship in their disassembled state, than if assembled).

Hiya
Unless the sets were bought new and never touched by anyone, I highly suggest
you inventory them using the lists provided on the site. It is very easy to miss
things and trust me customers will want that one missing part.

Not least because you have to be able to build any official alternates as well.

Very good point!
I used to try to "build the set to check for completeness" when I started
out selling sets back in 2017. Massive waste of time I missed something minor
50% of the time at least. These were very simple 80's and 90's sets.
I can't imagine doing that with modern stuff

Older instructions had more parts per step, no highlight, and, most importantly,
no parts list.

Great point! I probably need to change this process for those I know I'm

Let me try this a second time with a proof read........
I love your story and the family involvement. Good man!
I went and had a long look through your store and I noticed you called the boxes
to many of your sets "great, good, nice & excellent". Great effort.
Often on this forum and on competing forums people have asked what such things
mean, they can mean one thing to you, and something totally different to someone
else. Maybe consider "universal description like "Used, With box, with
instructions. Box and instructions 8/10", or "New/Sealed some shelf wear
9/10" and so on and above introducing language that others cannot misinterpret.
Again it's a good effort and having done similar things with descriptions
and even retirement dates in my store I can appreciate the effort you went to.
Lastly you could put the definitions of such descriptions in your Store notes.
I can tell you buyers often tell me I am easy to deal with because I make sure
they know everything before the Order and then I ship like Flash Gordon.

Thanks! That is great feedback. I will incorporate those definitions in my terms.
I agree, condition is subjective and as a buyer I’ve gotten burned before. Thank

Seems most thing have already been addressed so I’ll just give some advice
Never ship parts in envelopes through lettermail as the machines have been known
to damage them.
Just my thoughts, great start and congratulations on your first two orders!

For clarification I believe saitobricks is referring to paper envelopes as bubble
envelopes (bubble mailers) are great

Yes, I probably should have added the word paper to my statement

Welcome to the selling side of Bricklink! One thing that I noticed was that some
of your minifigures say in new condition which is against the Bricklink rules.
Other than that, I think everything looks good!

Thanks for calling that out. What are the rules if say you open a package, put
the brand new minifigure in a case and leave it there for sale? Can you call
that "in new condition" on the listing or do you have to just say
something like "opened and stored in the case one time" without saying
"new"?

So if I where to assemble a new minifigure and put it in a small bag. If I were
then put it in a clear bin and happen to look at it a couple times a day. Would
it be used?

then it’s used as per bricklink rules

Interesting, I guess that is also subjective. Probably the general rule would
be once the box or package is open then it is used no matter what.

If you don't mind me writing in a less politically-correct way and since
you welcomed constructive feedbacks: by reading the following parts in your terms:
"We build the sets ourselves and go through a thorough process of tearing
down incomplete purchased sets, rebuilding and purchasing replacement pieces
as needed."
I see that you build a set to check completeness and that would surprise me,
and assures me the seller will not do a professional job.
and
"If you are buying a set and would like for me to disassemble every single
piece I can offer that for a $5-$25 fee depending on the size of the set. "
which means you might ship a set "built and assembled", which would confirm
my first judgement that this seller does not know what he is doing.
I have had some less-than-perfect buying experiences that after reading these
lines in your terms, I would certainly not order from you. Sorry again for being
too direct but I am sure you have intention to do things correctly and professionally
and will improve. I did also some mistakes when I started selling here.
As Crystal and Nubs_select mentioned too, you would need to rethink how you check
parts and sets and how you pack,.... I see you have ordered about 100 times.
Did you order a set from any bricklink seller? It might be good you order your
next used set from an established seller on bricklink and see how he pack,...
As an example, this is how I checked a small castle set and put pieces in small
baggies:
https://imgur.com/a/lego-6040-with-european-box-34vAhNn
Simple and fast, but I think it is neat and good enough. If I didn't have
the box of this set, I would have placed all remaining parts and small baggies
in a bigger plastic baggie.

Thank you for checking it out! I accept all criticism. I hear exactly what you
are saying. I have mostly bought parts from BL and not sets. I will take your
suggestion to learn how others are doing it. I think you are right what you are
saying regarding both comments. While I trust that I complete the set 100% I
didn't think about the buyer's perspective and may misread or mistrust
what I am saying. I am going to update my terms accordingly. Thank you for your
feedback!
