The item itself is not damaged so much, it doesn't make sense to me that
only the golden parts would be just gone without seeing at all that it ever was
there. It looks like this item yes, but the golden was never there. That would
have to be some very professional removing job

a closer up one perhaps). there is worn print in multiple spots and at least
in the image it looks like the entire surface is heavily scratched

It makes perfect sense. Gold print wears of easily. There are plenty of Classic
Space figures where the gold is missing even though tge rest of the print looks
good.
