This might be the first time I want to put the money up for a set. For those
who have purchased in the past. Are you able to use payment programs to spread
the hit to the wallet over a few months or stuck with a one-and-done purchase?

the purchase is made thru the lego website so it uses whatever payment options
they have. To my knowledge tho they only have 1 time payment things tho and dont
have sezzle or such

That depends on the country where you are ordering from.
Buyers from The Netherlands and Germany have an option to pay within x days after
receiving an invoice (by mail or e-mail?) These invoices will be send by November
or December.
If nothing is received they have to call to Lego in January 2025

I will answer this from real personal experiences...
1. Clearly you know you accept the sets from the Bricklink site and then are
sent to the checkout at Lego.com
2. Lego will immediately take payment from your credit. In about 2 weeks they
will return those funds to your credit card and send you and email telling you
this.
3. When the sets are ready for delivery in 5-6 months time, Lego.com will then
use that same credit card information to obtain payment 1-2 weeks before delivery.
Several months ago I was shocked when my money was returned almost immediately
after payment and emailed Lego.com and asked if my order was cancelled. They
advise me what I have stated to you is the procedure.
Likewise if you don't use a "credit" card, but rather a "debit"
visa card the exact same thing will occur as I have used both methods and the
same results occurred.
There is no such thing as a "payment plan". But you can make multiple
orders during the allotted time which I believe in this series is October 30,
2024 if you cannot afford all the sets in one order, thereby breaking up what
you want over a period of weeks

If I’m not mistaken the “payment” done at this point is just an authorization
and no money is actually taken then returned. It’s just put on hold to confirm
you actually have the funds. But then they don’t “capture” the payment so the
hold is removed after some time (depending on your bank). At least this is how
it’s been done every time I’ve ordered
