Any tips or thought on how to flatten this without melting it?

Seems to have worked, I’ll giver’ another round and it should be totally flat.

You don't need to flatten it. It goes on curved on the model.

You don't need to flatten it. It goes on curved on the model.

Used an iron on lowest setting (Uncomfortable to the touch, but well below the
material's melting point, vinyl being lower than plastic) with a paper towel
in between the iron and sheet. The action should be brief, hinging on your iron's
lowest-setting heat output. That is to say, don't let the iron linger, just
use passes.
There'll be be an optimal side of the plastic sheet, just can't remember
if it's inside or outside of the bend. Pulling from long ago experience,
during our volume set part-out days, when most of the sheets pulled from a certain
set were distorted from poor packaging. I do remember it working well, though.

Bend it another full 360 degrees then glue it back on top
