Seller started a discussion to refund 100% for the first one, but only 50% for
the other 4 cards as long as I don't destroy them and send pictures of the
destroyed cards, arguing that they are "Used" and still worth 50% of
the original price. In my eyes the Star Wars cards don't even count as used
- unless you don't describe the state of the cards.
Another argument of the seller was "The cards must be destroyed because they
are faulty cards." Seller sent 100% refund for the first card, but only 50%
refund for the other cards, so we're talking about EUR 0.34 or so refund
instead of the requested EUR 0.50 ... yes, we're talking about this small
amount of money, but obviously the seller likes to be very correct, so I did
the favor and play along - many many many messages, I don't even know what's
going on anymore.
I offered to send the 5 cards back then (at the expense of the seller), which
was refused as well.
What's all this about?
I learned about something called a "NSS" (Non-shipping seller) that I
can request in such cases (as I didn't get what I've ordered). Told the
seller that I'd like to do this (still had to wait for 1 week to be able
to make this request.
Seller now canceled the order (which I already got) saying:
"eprespite requested to cancel this order.
Reason: Mutual agreement between buyer and seller to cancel
Details: Delete."
Again - what is all that about?
I should have been warned be the few neutral and negative feedback the seller
has.

The cards must be destroyed because they are faulty cards.
Since you are asking for a 100% refund, the value of the cards is zero.
Furthermore, it must be destroyed because this is the condition for a 100% refund.

its relatively normal to fully destroy a product before a refund is sent if the
items are not returned. its not like its an everyday thing but many companies
do this as they dont want the damaged items to be kept since they are no longer
paid for. that said Paypal most likely will have you return the items to the
seller at your expense if you file a claim with them so it might be best to do
what the seller is requesting and cut the cards in half and send that picture

Yeah but that is true only to a point. What if I decided to buy the rights to
a black hole somewhere out in the cosmos but latter decide what it really just
doesn't fit my needs and I actually need maybe a bigger better singularity.
Would I really need to destroy it before I get a refund? And how would I go about
doing that?? Common man, you need to think thru all possible scenarios before

its "common" in collecting spaces. for example, a while back I was reading
how someone purchased a bluray (it was like $400 USD or something) and it arrived
damaged and they weren't able to return it for whatever reason and in order
to get the refund (from the major company I cant remember if it was Sentai Filmworks
or Crunchyroll) they had to fully destroy it and send them pictures then they
would be sent a replacement

It's really not about the EUR 0.50, but this seller triggered something in
me - can't tolerate such behavior, so I wanted to do exactly as the seller
- discussing everything, arguing everything - should have avoided that. So much
wasted energy.
Let's see what PayPal says to the situation. As most of the cards came "bent"
as well (which you could argue that it's still normal), I want to do the
seller a favor and be as correctly with everything as the seller is, also claiming
those with PayPal.

be used to gauge all the other thousands of independently run stores on bricklink.
I would file a NSS and paypal claim then leave negative feedback for this store
to warn others.
I sent the pictures of the faulty cards and seller is arguing that they are not
worth nothing as long as I don't destroy them completely
Exact words:
The cards must be destroyed because they are faulty cards.
Since you are asking for a 100% refund, the value of the cards is zero.
Furthermore, it must be destroyed because this is the condition for a 100% refund.
This is so ... I don't know ... a joke?
It seems like he's making sure you aren't scamming him and going to resell
them since you now have them for free. (or will) Never heard of someone asking
a buyer to destroy an item though...
I have no shop ... and to whom should I sell such cards as "New"?
https://ibb.co/9rtztrS
the seller shouldn't even list those as used
maybe send them
"Used Parts - Parts which have been previously used and are still in good,
usable condition. If the parts show excessive wear, discoloration, excessive
scratches, other marks, etc., this should be noted in the item description. Sticker
sheets missing stickers must be listed as used. Individual stickers not attached
to the original sticker sheet must be listed as Custom Items."
as those should simply be tossed in the recycling. the seller sells new it should
arrive new and if it arrives not just "used" but in horrible unusable
condition they should be fully refunded and the items thrown out
Seller argued that they are "Used" and only refunded 50% of those cards.
I should have been warned be the few neutral and negative feedback the seller
has.

He has a point, but at that price he should just cough up the money. It's
not fair to you, a new buyer (or any buyer for that matter), to have to deal
with destroying cards and half refunds. Sorry that your first order was a bad

its possible, tho since they cancelled the order but no full refund has been
given you might be in luck and report them here
https://www.bricklink.com/problemMember.asp
as that is fee avoidance as when an order is cancelled then they get a refund
on the fees for it so if they are cancelling an order while still having the
payment that is an abuse of the cancel feature and is fee avoidance

are faulty cards." Seller sent 100% refund for the first card, but only 50%
refund for the other cards, so we're talking about EUR 0.34 or so refund
instead of the requested EUR 0.50 ... yes, we're talking about this small
amount of money, but obviously the seller likes to be very correct, so I did
the favor and play along - many many many messages, I don't even know what's
going on anymore.
I should have been warned be the few neutral and negative feedback the seller
has.
What a soul-draining experience.
Question: Did the seller cancel the order so that I can't file a NSS request
(which seems to be the usual way even when only a part of the order is not as
described)?
its possible, tho since they cancelled the order but no full refund has been
given you might be in luck and report them here
https://www.bricklink.com/problemMember.asp
as that is fee avoidance as when an order is cancelled then they get a refund
on the fees for it so if they are cancelling an order while still having the
payment that is an abuse of the cancel feature and is fee avoidance
Thanks. Which point exactly (from the drop down menu)?

ok, thanks - I might do this (or maybe let the seller "win", as this
costs already too much energy - that amount of stress isn't even worth EUR
100, and for sure not EUR 0.50)

Weird!
It's TOTALLY abnormal an order paid with "on site" payment could
be cancelled without a full refund.
I'm sure I already tried this; now I'm puzzled.
I'll have to test it on an order here (don't worry I won't confirm),
but this shouldn't be possible.
Confirm:
* you paid those 116€ something?
* you've been refunded of 0.34€ only (please check your PayPal account, and
NOT the whole order)?
Apart this really weird problem, I'd least favorite the seller and move on.
Your time spent on this is already worth far more than 30 cents

agreed, its weird. perhaps some combo of a partial refund combined with a cancel
request somehow bypassing the order cancel requirements

I can confirm both of your points - just verified in my PayPal account.
Yes, I will let the seller "win" and move on - that amount of stress
would not even be worth e.g. EUR 100.

No no, seller didn't win: he lost a buyer, you, forever.
Hopefully next order will be better
I'm sure! Please don't hesitate to ask us forum.
I'll try what you're talking about on one order here.
I'm sure it doesn't work.
Be sure to open a Help Desk ticket about this!

ask Administration to have a look.

That's very kind, but would require you to pay, me to refund, both lose time
and money - while it still can work as expected.
BrickLink has to have a look to this specific order to diagnostic / fix.

It's just a couple of bucks to me but I understand. I'll admit my eyebrows
are raised a bit because; did people ever follow up on orders that were marked
as paid when nothing was showing up in paypal? And are these two things in any
way related?

I know I couldn't, but I just tried on a partially refunded order of mine.
To Cancel you've to set it "Not paid" first.
BrickLink doesn't accept "Not paid" if it's not fully refunded
(with a big red error message).
In short it's not possible, there's something we don't know or a
glitch.
There could be something about different currency (HUF invoiced and EUR paid).
Can't easily try this.
Please again, open a Help Desk ticket on BrickLink, it's VERY abnormal -
like a bug - but the seller was NOT allowed to cancel either.

ok, that's really a bit confusing, but I've opened a case at the helpdesk,
explaining the situation (not being able to do a NSS request and the complete

If you are unhappy with the condition of what you have received and it doesn't
match the description then you should be entitled to return the items for a full
refund at sellers cost. If the seller does not wish to pay the return shipping
then that's on the seller and what you do with the unreturned items is your
business. It should not be for the seller to demand that the items be destroyed
with photos as this to me just seems very petty and unhelpful.
The seller has already left you disappointed and wasted your time sending you
items that are not as described and so after refunding the least they can do
is allow you to keep what you have as a gesture of goodwill. If they begrudge
you keeping the items that much then they should pay to have you return them?
Simple!
As a seller myself If I make a mistake or an item is unsatisfactory and I don't
thinks its worth me paying to have returned I would never dream of asking a customer
to destroy the item before refunding and as a buyer I would never again deal
with any seller that acts in this way either!
If you are unhappy with the condition of what you have received and it doesn't
match the description then you should be entitled to return the items for a full
refund at sellers cost.

Buyer could start a PayPal claim, but for 0.34€...
My response was more of a generalized statement rather than it being specific
to this particular transaction of the 'cards' hence I refered to them
as 'items' as could see thread had already come to some sort of conclusion.
I was more getting at and emphasizing the fact that I didn't agree with the
practice of sellers demanding items be destroyed before issuing refunds!
I should have been warned be the few neutral and negative feedback the seller
has.
What a soul-draining experience.
Both you and the seller are acting irrationally.
Buyer: The average hourly wage in Austria is 24 Euro.
If you spend more than a minute worrying about this problem, you have lost money.
Seller: Should have just refunded such a small amount. Judging by the stacks
of cards you show in future posts, the seller isn't going to go through each
card. They were probably sitting in inventory for a long time and a few of them
became delaminated.
Bricklink is a fairly unregulated marketplace. There aren't the same protections
as eBay or Amazon.
Check a sellers feedback. If it is below 99.5%, stay away.
If possible, always pay with Paypal backed by a credit card.

What a soul-draining experience.
Seller seems to feel very superior. Asking again why the cards need to be destroyed
(because I don't know what to do with the previous answer "because they
are faulty" and asking why the order has been canceled (which didn't
get an answer at all), the seller only wrote "This is the last message I
will answer. I will delete all other messages without reading them and will not
reply to anything."

I'm in the mood of a PayPal claim.
The seller seems to be mostly following correct procedures but with the wrong
attitude

+1 the destruction of the cards is normal but besides that the seller is off

Why is that normal? The seller didn't answer my question why I should destroy

Like I can make any profit with such cards, sold as "New" (https://ibb.co/9rtztrS)
and only provided 50% refund because they are "Used" and still worth
something, but not nothing (argumentation of the seller).

I mean - it's not what I ordered, so I offered to send it back, which the
seller refused (because I would have done this only on the seller's cost).
Instead, the seller wanted to force me to destroy the cards, take pictures, etc.
- otherwise, no full refund.
Never experienced such a thing. I'm only new to bricklink, not internet shopping
- that's why I asked if this is a normal behavior here.

Absolutely abnormal, by all means.
This seller has one or a few problems to be fixed, by himself or administration.
Sorry it felt on you.
Hang on, BrickLink is fine, but like everywhere and for everything there are
exceptions.
I'd even say there are less exceptions here than on eBay for ex.

its standard procedure for many companies its not some random thing the seller
did randomly.

yes he was wrong he should provide a full refund however destroying the cards
is "normal" tho could be seen as "petty" due to the low value

I'm sure BrickLink will do something about this, and this seller.
It's NOT normal a paid order can be cancelled.
Even if there was a bug, seller abused of it.
I'm in the mood of a PayPal claim.
Frankly? You could.
But then for 0.32€ I'm not sure they'll do something.

So I only wanted to ask how a negative feedback can be removed (the one I got,
not the one I left), but now the seller says ...
"The negative feedback is not over yet. She wanted to extort 30 euros from
me
by scamming Paypal and providing false information. Do you think I should leave
it at that? Don't think you can get away with this without consequences."
Now I think it's better that I remove the negative feedback I gave somehow?
Was this a threat? What can I do?

Ok, finally the seller talked to me again - and apologized for the "threat"
(wrong wording).
At this point, I just want to move on, so I removed my negative feedback to be
on the safe side:
"Ordered New, got Used. 50% refund offered. Didn't want to take items
back"
As you suggested, I've opened a support ticket to clarify the case why the
seller was able to cancel this order after I've received and paid for it
(it was over EUR 100,-). Initially I wanted to report a so-called "Non Shipping
Seller", but after telling this to the seller, he simply canceled the order
I already received, which you guys shouldn't be possible and is some kind
of bug in the system maybe.
I opened the support ticket on August 6th. So far, I didn't get any response
- more than 2 months later. How I'm supposed to be contacted by the support?
By bricklink message? Another e-mail? Nothing did occur - only the e-mail I got
when I opened the support case (Case Number: 07626736).
Sadly, this adds to my first bricklink experience I had with this seller.
