Hi everyone,
I want to build up the cargo carrier 4030-1 from 1987 in authentic manner. I
have all the parts, but some vary in details, so they may not be authentic in
this set.
Please advise for some parts where I think I have to decide for a specific variant.
I‘m no more sure about when hollow pins were introduced like on the following
parts. Do they all need to show hollow pins? I‘m not aware of ever having seen
the 1 x 10 plates with closed pins. The inventory doesn’t tell me.

Holes in pins are not functional differences and not so recognised as individually
catalogued variants. If you want to sell the set, you can use any combination.
For your own use, you can choose what you want. You can have a mixture for each
part, you can have the same variant for each part or you can aim to have the
same style for all parts.

Sure I could. But this is not my target. I want to get in contact with someone
who never took the original parts of this set apart or simply doesn’t own so
much LEGO that answering my question could succeed.
Extending my collection is no longer interesting to me. I want to improve the
quality of existing sets - especially the ones I just put together without having
owned the original set. I love hunting rare parts.

Attached are photos of a new set which I saved from an auction site a few years
ago. In my experience, 1987 is probably too early for plates with hollow bottom
pins.

Thank you very much. This is great news for me. In 1987 I did no longer acquire
LEGO sets. This one is an exception in my collection. This set is a piece of
the period in which the mold entries were on the studs already, but hollow pins
were not common. For purists this is important when restoring such set.
