| We have been on BL for 18 years and selling for all of those 18 years, why is
BL now wanting us to do a seller verification? We were hacked and we are fixing
things as we go and we found the verification? Is this new and why would it
come up after 18 years?

To help prevent scams i think. bricklink’s users have increased dramatically
since then as well

It's the exact opposite.
Seller has been scammed, they ask seller to confirm it's HIM and NOT the
scammer.
Sounds very normal to me.

good spot. i see his store is closed with a message that he is under attack.
it seems that this specific phishing attack has gotten quite a few sellers.

hacker. When I was hacked, Admin Russell asked me some questions that only I
would know the answer to in order to verify that the hacker didn't have access
to my email as well.

This page asking for verification of the "Owner" of the store, name DOB
and Copy ID. But we keep getting form not filled out correctly which it is.
This has turned off ability for our customers from being able to pay. So we
cannot get any orders, this just came out of the blue and we have been selling
for 18 years.
How long did it take for you to get Russel to help you out. I have sent 2 messages
to him and have not heard from him yet.
I have customers ready to place orders but they cannot checkout.

I didn't have to do any verification like that. Honestly without knowing
exactly what you are describing, it sounds a bit like further phishing. My verification
was only in an email from Russell. As for response time, unfortunately, I was
hacked at 1030PM and had to fend off the hacker for 7 hours while I waited for
an admin to wake up lol
