I keep those with the bags full of parts inside!

Seriously, as a merchandise, few are worth to be kept, as just shipping can be
a nightmare, and to a ridiculous price vs the item one.

I'd keep few old ones in very good condition, and a few of the nicest / rarest
boxes from licences (SW, HP...) which collectors or set re-builders may pay some
decent price later on.

Otherwise I wouldn't and don't.

But bin isn't the first solution. Reuse them, donate for decoration (kids
room?), or to people who're used to sell them on eBay or craigs list, whatever...

Of course, if you still have them, be sure they're properly recycled (and
not buried or burnt) - as it can make a brand new heavy lot of carton/paper!

I rarely keep boxes, only some that I really like (Pirates of Barracuda Bay for
example)

For the large boxes I don't keep I cut them down into strips so when I sell
instruction booklets I put 2 pieces around the book so it doesn't get warped/damaged
during shipping

I don't keep any of my boxes. I put them all into recycling. I have regretted
getting rid of some UCS Star Wars boxes, as I've built the model and then
dismantled it later, but not had a box to put the parts back into. I bag up all
dismantled sets and place them in large storage tubs with their instructions.

I’ve been ‘first-world traumatized’ in my childhood: my mother only let me keep
the big boxes, and then only the lids.
So now I keep all my boxes (though flattened).
But I’m reaching capacity… 😱

Thanks for the replies. As a child it was drilled into my head to always save
the box. A habit I'm trying to break, because as a lifelong toy collector
the boxes are taking over. LOL
I know I want to keep the boxes to my Disney sets. And bigger sets like my castle.
And it wouldn't be a bad idea to hang on to the boxes from the GWP sets,
like the Year of the Dragon. But do I really need the box to the basic bricks
set that was a black Friday impulse buy? Or all the 3 in 1 creator animals? Probably
not.

If you think the set might be valuable in the future, then you should probably
also keep the box.

Even for some little sets, the box can command a higher price than the cost of
the set a decade or so ago.

That's the hard part. It's really tricky to predict what might be valuable
in the future.
