4 Euro vs 37 Euro
Same number of the same part, with the same cart weight of 2.70 grams. So given
the choice, I naturally purchased from the Norwegian member with what is a more
than fair shipping rate offered. I’d buy from both, but I’m done with having
to negotiate a semi-reasonable shipping rate and/or fees, with EU members mostly.
No longer worth the effort.
Straighten out your shipping methods and rates, you’re hemorrhaging sales. Or
don't and let others pick-up those numbers
Just some advise I've long held onto and now don't need to, nothing more.
Indeed it can be really weird shipping from many countries in Europe. Even in
the same country 1 seller will have shipping starting at under $10 but then others
in the same country for the same amount of lego have shipping starting at ~$40
and they are missing out on many sales

I'm very happy about this, it makes more opportunities for me!

Tonight I made several carts because I kept stumbling upon stores with $20+ s+h
for a 19g $14 lettermail order. Only had 9 lots, no lot min listed, met min buy.
I know OS lettermail in Canada is $2.04, and even small flat rate is 17.84. Finally
found one store that would do $3.00.

It may be that one seller insists on registered / signed for whereas another
is willing to take more risk and send without tracking.

That is a possibility but even for the cheap ones they usually have tracking
and optional insurance

Just one of several recent examples:
There's one store in Estonia who has very cheap parts but going to checkout
results in a nasty surprise. I don't necessarily think it's all stores,
but I have noticed some stores having shipping expenses way too high.

In my personal experience, shipping from Europe to the U.S. is far cheaper than

So, in other words, it's U.S. sellers that are losing business, not Europeans.

You mean of course in your vast experience
How is 37 Euros (that another is shipping for 4 Euro) for a 2.7 gram package
"far cheaper than shipping from the US?" And what the H. E. double-tooth-picks
does USPS rates have anything to do with my advise that members take another
look at their shipping methods and rates?
Do you not read with intention to understand, but rather with retort in mind?
Please try and adhere to the facts empirically laid out before you, if you can.

It's more of a matter of personal philosophy. Personally, I wouldn't
complain about something unless I can personally do better; i.e., offer $4 shipping
from the U.S. to Europe.
I've only ordered from Europe a few times, but I was surprised at both the
speed of the delivery as well as how reasonable the shipping cost was to begin
with. But these were large orders, better measured in kilos rather than grams.

So you're unable to ship an 1 ounce package for less than $40 (37 Euro) to
Europe then
I understand your attempt to dodge the issue with "Personally, I wouldn't
complain about something unless I can personally do better" But it's
a clumsy attempt, and again not pertinent to the advise my original post offered;
for members to take another look at their shipping methods and rates or risk

As I clearly demonstrated (or so I thought) it's been a rub for awhile,
this is just today's example that brought me to the forum. Further and as
I stated: now that I've expressed it, don't have to give it another thought.
In other words, it's just advise, take it or not.
But all of which was expressed in my original post.

I once shipped a four-pound package to France. It cost me $70, but I only charged
the buyer $40.
Pirate Ship's simple export rate starts at $13.

My point is that, compared to U.S. sellers, European sellers are not losing nearly
as many sales due to high international shipping costs.
Europe is a diverse continent; there's no EUPS. I wouldn't expect rates
from one store in one country to match those from a different store in different
country, even if they're both in the EU (which Norway is not).

We're done here.
Well, that might explain it, if international shipping from Norway is cheaper
than international shipping from the Netherlands or the European Union.
When I order something from California, I expect the shipping cost to be higher
than when I order the same item from a seller in the Midwest.

How is 37 Euros (that another is shipping for 4 Euro) for a 2.7 gram package

It's just a rip off.
There are bad shops in EU also.
For this weight here it's less than 3€ FR to USA (or anywhere else Export).
Do you not read with intention to understand, but rather with retort in mind?
Please try and adhere to the facts empirically laid out before you, if you can.
Frankly if this example is 37€ for 2.7 grams, then it's simply "a flat
rate" (maybe up to 5 kg, then it's very interesting), or rip off or a
bad shop.
You can't really compare this to anything else, IMHO.
A simple international envelope $14 or such?
The same from here to you would cost maybe €3.
Which is why since maybe 5 years ago I can't / rarely buy in US; prices have
gone crazy sincerely.
I remember when we starting selling internationally our sales to other countries
made up about 30% of our business. Then shipping prices overseas just started
to go up QUICK. Now we get maybe 1 or 2 orders out of every 100 from out of country,
so from 30% to 2%. THAT STINKS!!
Or have free shipping and hemorrage all the money, but get all the sales?! Each
their own? Why are you so worried about others business?
Indeed, I've been keeping my shipping rates low to attract buyers, but it
seems USPS has raised their rates recently, so I may be forced to raise mine
to make up for the difference, lest I find myself in the red.
I suppose I could also raise my prices or set a minimum purchase.
I had someone for the last two weeks everyday, telling me how to run my business
via email and bricklink message, to say the least it got really old really fast.

Could it be because one seller is based in Norway and the other is based in the
Netherlands?
Different postal systems with different shipping rates.
And I will, hence the loss of sales for the store I initially went to purchase
from, with broken shipping method/rates settings.
Are you catching on yet
Well, that raises the question: Why are you ordering stuff from Europe when you
could simply order the same items from within the United States?
Unless, of course, they were rare items only available in Europe, but then sellers
can get away with charging more for shipping because the supply is limited.
Was there a more reasonable shipping price in the checkout (if UC enabled)?
No. But with some back n' forth the seller is willing to adjust the rate
without IC and with invoice.
But as I stated in the original post "I’m done with having
to negotiate a semi-reasonable shipping rate and/or fees"
Just not worth the hassle for me personally.
My question was more because some of the shipping estimates shown seem completely
random and not based on data entered by sellers, and you need to go all the way
to the end of checkout to see the correct postage price entered by seller.
I'd like to see the IC postage cost alongside the cart as you create the
cart, calculated on the fly like at brickowl. It is very useful to see when the
price jumps so you can maximise the number of parts for a given shipping band.

But again and like I said, this is just today example
In that case, it's the old least favourite and ignore them forever unless
they have items that others don't have. There are so many sellers these days,
I don't see the point in questioning high fees or prices.
