Hi,

Does anyone know what happens if a buyer makes an order from a seller that allows
open orders and applies a 10% coupon, then the coupon expires, then the buyer
adds another batch to the order and checks out after the expiration?

1) Does the coupon only apply 10% off for the first batch, but not the second
batch after expiration?

2) Does the coupon apply 10% off for both batches (the entire order) because
it was initially applied before it expired?

3) Does the coupon not work at all for either batch?

Not looking for guesses, only anecdotal experiences or facts. Thanks!

Currently only one coupon can be applied per order and only on a new order submission
(not addition to an existing order). The coupon percentage off or dollar amount
off then applies to the dollar value of all future batches in the whole order.

Like the original question, does that mean so long as the first batch of the
order is placed before the coupon expires, the coupon is still valid for all
additional batches placed afterwards even if expired? That might be an issue
if a seller has lots of coupons issued that expire and they have a general sale
after that date.

Of course, the seller can stop additional batches being added by marking as packed.

Yes, that's what's in the Helppage.

  That might be an issue
if a seller has lots of coupons issued that expire and they have a general sale
after that date.

Sellers can adjust the expire date manually on this page:

Yes, I realise that but that only works for unused coupons. My point was more
that if a seller has issued coupons that expire on 31 Dec, for example, and they
announce a sale starting 1 Jan then a buyer could use the coupon on 31 Dec then
also have that discount applied to the new discounted prices in the sale even
though the coupon has expired. So if a seller is doing that, they ought to manually
block the still in-place coupon from being applied to further batches by doing
...

When creating a coupon you can click the checkbox to exclude items on sale. (or
have it by default in the settings)

Yes, and I guess that is an additional reason that some stores use permanent
percentage off sales rather than lowering prices.

I think it applies to all batches once used.
