Got this message today from some random newbie I have never dealt with before.
How would more seasoned sellers handle this? My gut reaction is I do not want
to jump through these hoops on 2 small sets and its going to be more trouble
than its worth. Also no idea what afa graded means, is that a thing someone
can explain to me? Any thoughts from more seasoned seller since I still consider
myself to be relatively new. thanks! -Jerry

Hello!
I see that you have multiple sets! (X9)
I am looking to obtain two sets of eiffels apartment!
I would like these to be us releases.
These sets need to be MINT!
Please leave a star or some sort of signature on the box that tells me not to
open it. I am going to send it in to AFA to be graded. It would be nice if you
had an account lol.
🤗
Anyways, could we negotiate on a price for two sets?
A combined purchase?
I am open to FF if you are. Or on here.
Being that I am buying multiple.
I hope we can establish a long term relationship!
I need a lego retailer!

We receive twice per year this kind of message like "We're to acquire
hundreds of thousands $/€ sets/parts monthly at your best price". Of course,
they imagine we could sell at 75% off (of course!), shipping will never be a
problem, taxes (LOL!), various payment mode / fees (letter of credit?), customs,
delays (boat or plane?)...
I the more often simply don't reply.
Here for 2 sets you could give them a 50$ rebate, but warning them about possible
TERRIBLE shipping costs + possible import taxes etc.

These sets are only about %50 each so I wouldn't offer any rebate lol. Its
not like they are negotiating to purchase $500-1000 and want some sort of deal,
It's literally 2 small sets of ~$50 each.
I know nothing of being a seller but still, if i was in your place i'd simply
politely decline stating that two sets are not worth the hassle for you.
As for AFA it stands for Action Figure Authority and its a toy grading service
that ranks products from various rankings of mint to poor quality.
So i'd imagine if you send them the product and AFA does not deem them to
be "Mint" you'll be hearing some choice words from this person :I
thanks for the info. so now that I know what AFA is, I am personally against
sealing lego boxes up and not playing with them =P so I wouldn't be fore
this "grading" service lol.

I’d say thanks but no thanks.
Did anyone else think “Danger, Will Robinson”. (Yeah, I know I’m dating myself).
I agree that they could claim it didn’t meet the standards and then they might
try to dispute the charges.

Not dating yourself as they remade that show on Netflix recently. It's actually
really good if you haven't seen it.

Ok thanks for everyone's feedback, I have politely declined and told them
good luck on their quest. I almost never guarantee mint boxes and always note
"shelf wear" on my sets. I would hope someone trying to find mint and
gradable boxes would wish to examine products first hand before purchasing.
This person first of all, asks you to provide an enhanced level of service, requiring
extra work. And then asks for a discount.
And the reason you should do all this is because of a vague suggestion that you
will get lots of future business from them.
I'd rather consider meeting special requests for customers who already have
a history of repeat purchases in my store.
It is also my opinion that "mint" is not a helpful descriptor on Bricklink."Mint"
is overused, and misused on Bricklink It is not one of the condition definitions
in Bricklink, such as "New" "Sealed" etc. Those have definitions,
but anyone advertising "mint" is just giving their opinion. I would not
promise anyone that a set I'm selling is mint. I would send a picture, and
give a detailed description, and that should be enough.
