Quit the forum for a few months (and forgot to reopen my store for six weeks)
because of the spam... I see a MASSIVE amount of cancelled posts - has it gotten
that much worse?

That's crazy. I couldn't tell if there were offensive posts being removed
along with replies but it seemed like lots of zero feedback posters.

What posts?

There is an option to hide cancelled posts in the forum settings:

Cleans up the list neatly.
