| Dear BrickLink members,
I would like to sincerely apologize for the performance issues that the site
has been experiencing this week. On Wednesday, during monthly maintenance, I
attempted to bake a 14-inch pizza Margherita using the excess heat produced by
BrickLink's servers. Unfortunately, while preheating the servers to 475 degrees
Fahrenheit (250 degrees Celsius), some of them overheated and were permanently
damaged. I have been busy helping the BrickLink team replace the damaged servers
and we are almost finished but you may continue to experience some lingering
issues as we get everything back online.
These issues are totally unrelated to the ongoing conflict between the Pizza
Gang and Le Mustard Club.
I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused for those of
you who use other parts of this site besides the forum.
If you have any questions, please contact the help desk: https://helpdesk.bricklink.com/Main/
They usually respond within 2-3 geological epochs, but may take longer to respond
during periods of unusually high geological activity.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.

As I understand it, the servers broke before the cooking temperature was reached.
So I think it’s not cooked… yet.

We don't have conflict with losers, just contempt.

In all seriousness, you are correct. The ideal temperature for baking pizza is
somewhere between 700 and 900 degrees Fahrenheit (400 to 500 degrees Celsius).
However, most household ovens simply don't get that hot. The maximum temperature
for a household oven is usually somewhere between 500-600 °F (260-315 °C).
Server equipment fails long before it reaches anywhere near those temperatures.
The optimal ambient air temperature for a server room is around normal room temperature
(68-71 °F or 20-22 °C). However, depending on the manufacturer, most server equipment
can reach temperatures of up to 80-90 °F (27-32 °C) before it begins to malfunction.
Suffice to say I won't be baking pizza in BrickLink's server room anytime
soon.
