For those who haven't heard, the USPS is slowly replacing all blue collection
bins in an attempt to prevent "mail phishing" which has become a growing
problem. Sadly, the new bins do not have the pull handle where you can drop a
small bubble mailer in. Instead there is a small thin slot that barely fits
a standard size letter and are not very user friendly. The bin at my local grocery
store was recently swapped out for the "improved" bin, leaving me one
less option to send out orders. Sounds like this is happening nationwide, so
expect a new bin near you soon.

Has anyone ever had an order they dropped in a blue bin stolen or tampered with?
It is inconvenient or was I just schedule pick ups with the mail carrier now.
I probably do this 3 times a week the other days if I can I leave them in my
mail box and they will be picked up when our mail is delivered. If there is
a way for something to be taken advantage of unfortunately it will be
In my area we used to have a few of the blue boxes available to drop items in
without getting out of the car. Then thieves began to knock them out of their
cement bases and take off with the entire thing. Pretty much forces you to either
go in for a drop-off or schedule a pick-up.
That being said, I don't think I've ever lost any mail/packages from
the blue boxes. However, I refuse to drop anything in an outside blue box when
the Post Office is not open. That's just asking for a loss.

Our boxes have been like this for a while; I've been dropping off at the
post office since I opened my store.

In my area, several mail carriers were attacked and had their postal box and
master keys stolen. In response, they had to simply unlock all the blue bins
in town and leave the doors hanging open to discourage people from using them
until they could be replaced.
Apparently, they did catch at least some of the people who did this. Using a
master key at a building with video security is an easy way to get caught.
I still have one Big Blue left my neighborhood and I use it a lot.
Our development also has group mailboxes for numerous townhouses, and each of
those has a slot in which small orders will fit.
I have never had a problem with any orders I pout in these.
