I just tried to get a price from the U.S. post office site. Small package, 8.5
0z to Ohio.
The only options were ground and various priorities. Same result when I tried
sending to a different zip code. Has something changed?

I think it is now called ground advantage instead of 1st class.

it changes every few years, you'll get used to it
