I have some reddish brown 3021 plates stacked and when trying to separate them
every other plate breaks.

Any suggestions on how to separate them. Hot water, freezer.

Thanks
Jim

maybe try stacking them in between like 30 other colors of the 2x3 .. maybe you
can use the other colors as some torque to flex them apart...

Do you know the vintage of those plates ?

Certain colors of plates (reddish brown being one in particular) from 2013-2015
may have been very brittle.

They dont even need to be older plates to be brittle. We have had brittle reddish
brown plates from sets as new as this year break easily right out of the box.

Reddish brown pieces can be sooooo brittle. Recently a customer ordered some
of these:

Part No: 30357 Name: Plate, Round Corner 3 x 3
*
30357 Plate, Round Corner 3 x 3
Parts: Plate, Round {Reddish Brown}
When checking them for brittleness I found that they would break.
We have over 250 of them that we wont even try to sell now because everyone that
I tried to break by just slightly bending with very little pressure snapped easily
into shards. I am afraid to try other pieces not wanting to see them also snap
into shards.

Jim.

Jim.

If you have found brittle reddish brown pieces that break, contact LEGO Customer
Service immediately, they should replace them free of charge. This is a well
known issue, please have on hand, if you still have them, the numbers from the
sets they were originally in.

All LEGO set boxes have tracking information that shows when and where they were
made, if you give the information on the boxes that the affected parts came in,
to LEGO Customer Service, they can then use the information to find affected
batch numbers.

Usually what they will do is issue an defect notice on their site so that consumers
who buy LEGO products are aware of the defective parts.

They may require you to send back any defective parts found, they will recycle
them.

Cheers ...

It sometimes helps to talk to them while pulling them apart, gentle encouragement.
"Be a good little reddish brown plate" etc etc

Plates appear to be new circa 2012-2016 but will be sold as used if I can separate
them.
The language I use when trying to separate the pieces is not as gentle as recommended
above.

You should be able to contact LEGO Customer Service and obtain free replacements
for any defective parts you found. They may require that you send them the defective
parts. They can recycle them.
