Recently I am looking for the star wars minifigs that I missed ( around 40) on
bl, the one seller usually have only a have 1-2 that I want, I usually look for
Europe sellers because shipping from us seller starting from 10 usd while Europe
seller from around 4 euro, but recently I try to place a us order for 3 minifigs
and the shipping was around us$20 (term said start from 3us so I give it a try),
yesterday I asked a quote for 4 minifigs cost are hnd 45 euro, the bl automatic
shipping starting from 9 euro, so I asked a seller for a quote for cheapest untracked
shipping, terms said shipping starts from 1.6 euro, but the quote ended up around
11 euro plus 5 euro for charges, this is out of portion, I notice the shipping
inflated after bl calculate shipping automatically.

Does anyone have the same feeling? And any good suggestions? Thanks

Possibly the seller has other charges and / or fees that are being calculated
into the shipping cost once you get to the last checkout page. Read the terms
for that store. All fees and additional charges should be listed in the terms.

There are some countries where it is very expensive for international shipping.
The destination will also determine the cost.

Yes, there are some sellers who pad the shipping costs, but not all.

BrickLink, as a company, does not calculate the shipping costs, that is up to
the seller to calculate.
The seller’s shipping terms may have a broad range of prices. With the “from”
price being the closest destination. Some have prices listed by country.

If you are really curious, you can always go to the post office website of the
seller’s country, and check on the cost yourself.

I am generally quite impressed with what mail companies do around the world for
a pittance. Bring something from across the globe to a small box I put on my
house. Deal with a multitude of inter governmental regulations particularly
designed to avoid me getting inappropriate things. Deal with bureaucrats trying
to get their fingers on a few cents for my desired products, and sometimes add
dollars in service charges. Generally this costs about the same as most people
pay for fast food from a restaurant in their neighbourhood to be brought to their
house. No, shipping is usually a pretty good deal.

Similar here, but now those 20 figs you want to ship are worth €200, can you
still ship for €5.25?

Noted with thanks, I think USPS change the policy that no single lego piece can
be shipped via first class mail internation (cheaper method) from few years back.
Therefore I happened to avoid US sellers for small orders.

Many sellers won't send untracked, especially valuable minifigures.

Feel the same, most sellers sell postage via parcel post, and not letter mail
for all their orders, given the price increase the last few years for postage,
letter mail is still very cheap to send items that are under 25mm thick from
memory, think BL needs to educate some sellers on this matter because I know
an order from Canada to Australia for $6 worth of parts will cost either $20+
on parcel post or $1.60 for letter mail in a Jiffy bag …..

Unfortunately, shipping from US to other countries is significantly more expensive
than it was 15 years ago.

The normal USPS rate is around $20 to Asia for even a small order.
Even with the cheapest commercial rate possible using third party intermediary
cost is $12.

What is even more crazy is USPS subsidizes packages from China to the US, because
China is considered an "underdeveloped" nation despite having the second
largest GDP in the world. So companies like Wish, Shein, and Temu pay $2-3 to
ship a package half way around the world.

Shipping (letterbox post) to Hong Kong tracked up till 100 grams is 5.95 euro..
Untracked 3,95 euro.

We can ship relatively cheap around the world for little items. But I'm a
registed seller in NL. If your not, shipping is much more expensive. Maybe that
has something to do with it.

A few years ago the UPU (Universal Postal Union) changed the rules regarding
international shipping goods as letter mail. All goods (except some explicitly
stated categories like books) need to be shipped as parcel. For the rules the
shape of the parcel isn't the issue, I can still send a bubble envelop, but
it has the legal status of a parcel. Some countries / couriers created new shipping
products for this, like PostNL in the Netherlands. For a couple of years now
they have a product called "brievenbuspakje buitenland" (letterbox sized
parcel international). In the first years they had the weight categories 0-20,
20-30, 30-50, 50-100 grams, so it was still possible to ship a few parts around
the world for about €1,60 in shipping. This year the consolidated those weight
categories in 1 category 0-100 grams, with for almost all international destinations
a price that is €4 or more and goes up really fast with weight and options
like tracking and insurance. Shipping to Hong Kong starts at €9,50 for a parcel
weighing less 100 grams without tracking.

With our beloved CanadaPost, the shipping charges to Hong Kong are

about $13 CAD = $9.60 USD without tracking

and

about $28 CAD = $20.73 USD with tracking

With a private courier, I can ship also for

about $13 CAD = $9.60 USD with tracking
