found this in a batch.
but it does not exixt in red...and with the open hole.
it does have the ''lego'' logo...so it is real lego
prototype maybe??

you can see the hole on the photo when you select 'all colors' instead
of black or yellow.

Nice find, yes, this would be called a prototype.
But it is more a color tryout in red.

Lots of people that collect these.

Nothing weird 2x4 in there

Lot of items are called prototype that are not prototypes.

It could be a Q-element, made for model builders.

I always believed red is the most used test color since it shows the shape and
therefore flaws the best.
Just like the well known red Darth Vader helmets.
