Has anyone successfully restored smoke or soot damaged bricks? I was given
a lego collection that came out of house fire and was curious if there was any
hope. Seems like a TON of work, but there are some great figs that need help.

Some soot can be oily depending on the type of fire it was. Try washing with
Dawn dish soap or its equivalent first. Use warm water and rinse with cold water.
I am not sure anything will work to get soot off Lego though. If you are successful
in getting the soot off, try soaking them for 24-48 hours in a vinegar (1 part)
/ water mix (4 parts). This mixture works for getting most smells out of Lego.
To dry the parts: lay them on a flat surface on top of a towel. You can use a
fan to help speed up the drying process.
Please let me know if you were able to get them clean and smell free.
