Hey everyone, I have question, what is the best part sorting type. What I should
choose. Sorting parts by colors or by their shape?
Because when order is big sometimes it take 4 hours to get every part.
Thank you in advance everyone!

Once It’s listed for sale it should be sorted in numbered containers (or bags)
and 2 identical or similar parts or 2 parts if the same colour or similar shouldn’t
be stored together for the most part

For example I should store 1x4 grey color plates with something like red ball
joints for better understanding what piece do I need, right?

here's some example from some drawers. I realize I might have slightly misexpalined
it earlier and what I meant was when you have similar colours of the same part
you shouldn't put them in the same drawer (or bag) or if you have a large
box (or bag) don't but to many similar items that aren't the same in
it as it can be a pain to find them

Sounds like a plan! I see some minifigure parts being added so maybe their will
be some that match my wanted list soon and I can place an order

DOn't worry about individual parts, worry about adding stock.

1a: Parting out is a necessary evil; just embrace it.
1b: Buy anything you can with minifigures when you see it on sale.
1c: Check BL part out value for anything that's a minimum of 200% higher
than purchase price.
2: The more inventory you have the more frequent you'll have orders.
3: The more lots you have the more frequent you'll have orders.
4: It is admittedly a time consuming process. Assume 1000 parts per hour for
one person to sort and then 30-60 lots per hour to put in storage depending on
the complexity of the sets you're parting out.
5: Part out multiple sets at the same time in order to maximize efficiency.

My parting out skills is faster, I parted out 6k pieces with my girlfriend for
2,5 hours
You exactly wrote me a business plan how I should work, I think I will screenshot
it and go to shop check discounts
As I understood the best deals in shops is when box from lego is damaged so stores
sells lego with 40% discount.
Thanks a lot!

Well yes of course, more people speeds it up, but the set itself will determine
how fast you go.

Ninjago City Gardens (71741) has ~5900 parts in ~1200 lots while
The Justifier (75323) has ~5200 parts in ~315 lots while
Batman Art (31205) ~4300 parts in 40 lots.

City Gardens will take you the better part of 20 hours to sort depending on how
much room you have to work with while the batman one takes about 15-20 minutes.

Yeah you are right, and can I ask a question then, what set will be better 5k
parts with 200 lots or 5k parts with 1000 lots?

1000 lot set but multiple copies. I try to have a minimum of 6 of the same set
before parting out. 20 hours to do 5k parts with 1000 lots verse 30 hours to
do 30K parts with 1000 lots. But early on just get your lot count up.

^^ That right there. ^^

It's a balancing act and I'm not sure I know the formula. You need a
wide variety of parts to cast a wider nets to lure in buyers, but it behooves
you to also have multiples of specific parts.

Sometimes I'll have an order with 100+ lots but it's 1-50 of each item.
Other times I might sell 500 1x2 bricks with masonry profiles. Don't over
think it early on, just grow your inventory.

Hey everyone, I have question, what is the best part sorting type. What I should
choose. Sorting parts by colors or by their shape?
Because when order is big sometimes it take 4 hours to get every part.
Thank you in advance everyone!

Nubs_Select answered this for you pretty perfectly.
I've got a similar system for mine.

I have 4-5x "Plano Pro-Latch Stowaway Utility Box - 2-3701" for minifigure
parts
Each box has a letter, each cell has a number. The comments (visible only to
seller), say T13... that's a box/cell location, so it takes me 10 seconds
to find that one part.

The rest of my inventory is nested in a similar manner:
Box with a number on it
Quart storage bags inside the box to hold each part
Sandwich bags inside that to hold each color of that part
3x5 small bags inside that to hold multiples of 10x.
... When there's less than 10, they're loose in the sandwich bag.

I find putting all parts together in the same quart easier to manage lots/put
away.
I sort random garage sale finds by part, not by color... so when I go to add
them to the store, I type up the part number, and go through and add all the
colors at once. It ends up working for me. You really just need to find a way
that works for you.

Alright I have to start sorting all the parts a bit better, because now I have
all colors in same spot as well as 3 types of pieces in same slot. Thanks a lot!
