Washing legos in the washing machine is not recommended. Hand wash with warm
water and mild soap, if necessary.

Depending on how grimy they are I might use a toothbrush, but that runs the risk
of scratching. Hearing aid brushes seem to work well for dirt that's not
caked on.

Never use hot water. If the Lego are really dusty, let them soak in warm water.
I do use a soft toothbrush and have not noticed any scratching.

Let the Lego sit out on a counter on top of a towel. If you use a fan, the Lego
will dry quickly.

Thank you very much, but what soap do I need to use?

Put them inside a pillowcase.

Close it seriously using serious one or more zip ties (Rilsan).

Pray.

But it should be fine.

No washing machine necessary. Simply put the legos inside of a pillowcase, close
it with a zip tie, and pray. That is how you clean legos.

You could put them into a pillowcase and then stuff that in a mesh laundry bag
(i.e. one used for delicates)

Thank you!

I go through this process.

Soak the lego with normal dishwashing detergent in warm water for a little while.

If they need any scrubbing, i use a very soft tooth brush so as not to scratch
the lego.

Rinse well, i use a salad spinner to do this. They Lego sits in the inside part
and you can remove, dispose of the water and then rinse again without having
to touch the Lego. You can even give it a very gentle spin to remove excess
water (but not too hard to damage)

Lay out onto a towel and let dry.

Cheers

You don't need it, i am just letting you know the easiest way i have found
to do it. There may be ways that others recommend that are better for you.

Also google washing lego, there are heaps of videos out there.

You can buy the salad spinners very cheap from some stores.

Best of luck to you.

Just fill a bathtub and throw them in, stir them occasionally and then get them
out, drain them, spread them out on a big beach towel and put a heater on lowest
setting to blow over the bricks.

I use warm water and a gentle dish washing liquid soap. For especially grimy
areas, i use an old SOFT toothbrush to get into crevices ( inverted slopes &
wedges). Otherwise, i soak for a little bit of time and then rinse. Dry them
on old cookie sheets covered in papertowels or an old dish towel. ( Air dry).
I don't recommend a dishwasher or the washing machine.

I hand washed everything for years but after experimenting with the machine and
a pillowcase I wont go back. I'm spoiled now.

I don't usually deal in used LEGO but I did get a 50 pound lot I needed to
clean a year ago to sell in bulk lots. LEGO officially says wash by hand, but
let's be real. You are never going to get in all the nooks and crannies with
a hand wash.

Washing machine is the way to go for bricks and plates (I have never tried doing
minifigs)
Use mesh laundry bags. The trick is to fill the bag up 3/4 full, then nest a
bag inside of a bag inside of a bag. (4-5 laundry bags deep). This prevents the
parts from coming out during spin cycles.

I added a tiny amount of dish soap to the cycle and ran on regular. USE COLD
WATER
.

Make sure you balance out the weight for the sake of your machine, so you want
to do about 5 mesh bags at a time.

After they are done, spread out on beach towels to dry. Having the ceiling fan
on. Stir up the pile a few times a day and they will be dry in a couple days.
With a dehumidifier they will dry even faster.
