I have 9x of part 89652 in Dark Red, but according to BL, such part was never
made in such color.

I have several Bionicle sets that are disassembled and I'm trying to rebuild
the sets together.

Anyone got a clue?

Absolutely positive, the part number is actually visible on the side. The two
mparts are interchangeable, and I wonder if there might be an issue with Bricklink's
catalogue.

Most likely alternates in later productions runs of some of these sets:

You can submit a photo for the catalog here:

Part number 89652 tends to be associated with Hero Factory sets from 2010, often
as an alternative to part number 60176.

Later Hero Factory sets used part 93571, as parts 60176/89652 were notoriously
prone to cracking.
