I think someone needs to make a decision on the spelling of pyjamas/pajamas.

There are too many parts, sets and minifigs with the different spellings to list
here but I'll just mention the "Pyjamas Emmet" polybag which contains the
"Emmet - pajamas" minifigure!

Set No: 5002045 Name: Pyjamas Emmet polybag
*
5002045-1 (Inv) Pyjamas Emmet polybag
1 Minifigure, 2014
Sets: The LEGO Movie

Minifig No: tlm061 Name: Emmet - Pajamas
*
tlm061 (Inv) Emmet - Pajamas
Minifigures: The LEGO Movie

Looks like the image is of a polybag in a foreign language I am going to guess
is French. In the picture they spell it "Pyjamas Emmet". That's where the
confusion is coming from.

Maybe the picture and name should be updated to English. I'm not 100% on
what BrickLink's language protocol is.

The description starts with “Building Toy,” then it’s in German, French, Spanish,
Portuguese, and Greek.
“Pyjamas” is the UK spelling.
So I’d say it’s the European version of the polybag… and definitely already in
English

(French would be “Emmet en pyjamas.”)

The word comes from Persian:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pajamas

Today, it is pronounced "bijāmé" (bi pronounced like "bee") but it was used to
be called "pijāmé" which was derived/simplified from "pāy-jāmé".
pāy or pā means leg (it also means foot in English, "pied" in French)
jāmé means clothes, garment, i.e. what you see in the paint attached. It was
the type of clothes to be worn for outside house.

My, BrickLink is becoming BrickLinguists

And to appease cat-loving but non-linguist bricklinkers, it seems the Exotic
Shorthair is sometimes called “Persan en pyjama” in French

Yes. And the Canadian spelling is "pyjamas".

Maybe the picture and name should be updated to English.

I think you mean American English. Pyjamas is used in UK and the wider Commonwealth.

Pajamas is the BL standard. As had been pointed out elsewhere the set you mention
just has a different spelling on the set itself.

If BL develops a tag system where we can give catalog entries hidden keywords
then lots of alternate spellings like these can be added.

This is something that can be better handled by synonyms (synonyms would be added
when indexing content and/or when content is searched - e.g. if someone searches
on "pajamas" then the system searches on "pajamas OR pyjamas") than by tagging

And would also be good for accented words so that searches for Andre Schurrle
would find André Schürrle and so on. Especially as some repetitive tags / titles
have been accepted such as

Part No: 54821pb02 Name: Ball, Bionicle Zamor Sphere with Marbled Trans-Yellow Pattern (Palantír, Palantir)
*
54821pb02 Ball, Bionicle Zamor Sphere with Marbled Trans-Yellow Pattern (Palantír, Palantir)
Parts: Ball
but others including the German player names were denied.

Never knew there was another way to spell pajamas...

learn something new everyday on this site, even if it's not Lego related.
