Nope! But at least it's got Binoculars in the name for searching. It's
actually used in more minifigs than anything else so far.
Plate, Round. Minifig, Utensil. Minifigure, Body Part. Not an easy placement...
Jen
I think that "Minifigure, Body Part" would probably be the best category, since
the other droid parts are categorised as such.
"Plate, Round" is a weird category overall, though, and it needs to be reworked
- For example:
Since a "Plate" seems to be primarily characterised by the presence of
a stud/studs on top, with optional antistuds on the bottom, the lack of a top
stud on Part (53119) and Part (15470) should disqualify them from being in "Plate,
Round". These pieces would also fit better in the "Food & Drink" category, where
Part (6254) is.
Additionally, if Part (73832) is a "Plate, Round", then Part (66789) and Part
(66790) should be as well (Or Part (73832) should be moved to "Plate, Modified").

BTW, will any items be renamed, or just recategorised?
If they get recategorized, they will most likely be renamed.
I was asking if I could also suggest some new names (separate from the necessary
category-related changes), such as for Part (6254) - It has been used for popcorn,
smoke, snowballs, etc, as well as for ice cream. A better name would be something
descriptive, with "Ice Cream" and "Popcorn" as parenthetical 'tags'.
Why is Part (18654) being moved to "Technic, Liftarm"? As a shortened version
of Part (62462)/Part (75535), I feel that it fits better where it currently is.

THANK YOU!! Having an independent "Wedge" category when the parts
therein were just modified bricks, slopes, or plates made no sense (and
the separation was particularly annoying when working in Stud.io)! I would,
however, suggest "Slope, Wedge" and "Slope, Curved, Wedge" categories for parts
such as Part (43710), Part (64225), etc.

If it only fits one pin how can it be a connector?

Also, Bricklink is the only Lego website calling Beams liftarms...
"Liftarm" is a broader category, but "Beam" is better and more intuitive. The
only loss in changing it, is that there would now be "Beams" that look more like
levers or liftarms than actual beams. Thus, if we change "Liftarm" to "Beam",
then we would also need to create a "Beam, Modified" subcategory for parts like
Part (85940), Part (32140), and Part (33299). I would be fine with this, BTW.

Good points, I'm with you guys: "Liftarm" should be "Beam" instead, and then
the creation of Beam, "Modified" as you suggest.

Finally! This part is being moved to its proper place as a liftarm. I've
tried a couple times to move it and it was never agreed upon at the time. It
is not a connector as it only works with one pin. LEGO calls it a liftarm too.

Jen
I am genuinely curious: Why do you think that this piece should be classified
as a liftarm? Unlike the other parts in the category, it cannot act as
a liftarm, and LEGO's official classifications are not always the best for
the purposes of the BL Catalog.

I call it a liftarm because the mold is precisely a 1L liftarm. How it behaves
is also relevant, but it acts as a bushing of sorts and can't connect anything.
So, why not call it what it is?

Fair, Re: mould. If we changed the category name from "Liftarm" to "Beam", I
would have no problem with it being there (I can see it as a 1L Beam).

Yeah, I'm not really a LEGO purist...I started on BrickLink, so all the LEGO
names and colors names just sound weird to me. Changing our name for the category
won't affect its use, so why go against all our historical memory??
I realize that people who started on LEGO think BL names are strange too, so
I understand where you are coming from.
I was asking if I could also suggest some new names (separate from the necessary

Of course you can suggest new names. It doesn't mean that they will be used,
though.
Why is Part (18654) being moved to "Technic, Liftarm"?
Suggested move.
Reasons:
(1) It cannot connect anything, so it is not a connector.
(2) LEGO classifies it as a beam with length 1L, and we want to standardize this
part with them.

Please remember that these are only suggestions right now. None of this is set
in stone. The two months of February and March will be used to make suggestions,
debate suggestions, etc. Only after all the discussions have taken place will
a final list be officially documented and enacted on April 1.

Of course you can suggest new names. It doesn't mean that they will be used, though.
I know that - I just wanted know if new names were even being considered
during this period.

I understand, but I think that this is the right move, and that there will be
little disagreement regarding it. My only addition would be (as I mentioned in
another post) to add "Slope, Wedge" and "Slope, Curved, Wedge" subcategories
as well.

I would go with "Minifig, Utensil" because of the imediate resemblance with the Binoculars in that category.
But I can see some people preferring "Minifigure, Body Part"
It does, but it is mainly used for robots (as Jen mentioned), so putting it into
the "Minifigure, Body Part" category with the other droid parts makes the most
sense to me.
