If these obscure parts are now easy to find, then they are no longer obscure
and should be removed from the obscure parts page. At which point they become
obscure again and need to be added.

Oh, now that's helpful. Our catalog people really look out for us.
Now I am thinking ... which obscure parts are we forgetting (again)? .. And how
would you like requests for future additions to be made (or will this forum thread
remain active)?
... And how many obscure parts could we include in the overview before they become
unfindable again

It seems like there are a couple of other lists out there (qwertyboy's and
mfav's lists). We'll probably look over those at some point.
And how would you like requests for future additions to be made?
Any of the usual channels for contacting us are fine. We'd like to keep
the list to a useful size, obviously, to keep it actually useful. So we may
not add all the parts suggested, but we'll at least consider them.

Welcome to the 90's BL... I prefer the Machine Learning aspect of this where
it happens automatically. I mean you know BL is just a HUGE DB just waiting for
the Automation of this Century. Give this project to some first year CS student
looking for an intern Grade. If I can get an Annoying Popup on LEGO or other
sites about tech help or Selling... Someone CS101 class could make a simply robot
that does this for you and learn... Come on Someone needs to start thinking outside
the box.

Baaah I wanted to reply to this on the original post not yours.. For all intensive
purposes your page was my Machine Learning page for these parts...
Give this project to some first year CS student looking for an intern Grade.
Aren’t all the developments on BL¹ already made by not-yet-first-year CS students?
¹ and on lego.com… and actually on 99% of the Internet
No, they are second years. Ones that have been around long enough to know they
can skip attendance at their lectures / seminars.
without ML you could even just do some simple API with a tag that when in forum
and you type in "Obscure", it automatically opens up a pop up to the said page
of parts...

I agree with all of these except the Ingot bar. I mean, anyone that doesn't
use the word "ingot" as part of their daily vocabulary is the obscure one in
my book
Jokes aside, I could see this being useful.
I know there was a forum regular Mark that has a website with FUPS (frequently
unknown parts) that is similar to this.
Actually, I like it, but it seems the pictures are rather large.
Fair. I've reduced the picture sizes by 100 pixels in both directions.
I still think the images and text are *very* large. There is way too much scrolling
needed to look through that list. It would be even more useful if it was condensed
considerably. Look at how small Niek's page is for example. It is useful,
and I don't have to scroll at all. The images on his page could definitely
be a bit larger, but even then, I wouldn't have to scroll. My finger gets
quite the workout on the current page you have.
It is now more modern, more stylish, altogether more attractive, and easier to
browse.
It seems the images are scaled without respecting their original aspect ratio.
Never a good idea but especially a bad one when the purpose is to compare objects

Thanks for putting this into practice. Can I assist with creating/editing images
that fit the aspect ratio?
Jen
Yes, of course. Your assistance is valuable and always welcomed. I added your
image of the stick piece to the page. I think it was the only one that was majorly
out of aspect.
We'll work on that page more as time goes by, of course.
