Please make changes to the following inventory:

892 Parts, 1 Book, 1984
Sets: Educational & Dacta: Town

* Add 2 Part 2446 Red Minifigure, Headgear Helmet Standard (Alternate) (match ID 2)
* Add 1 Part 193b1 White Minifigure, Headgear Helmet Old with Thick Chin Strap - without Visor Dimples (Alternate) (match ID 3)
* Change 3 Part Black {x77 String, Cord (Undetermined Type) to x77ac30 String, Cord Thin 30cm}
* Change 1 Part Light Gray {3650 Technic, Gear 24 Tooth Crown (Undetermined Type) to 3650a Technic, Gear 24 Tooth Crown (1st Version - Not Reinforced)}
* Change 2 Part Black {3044 Slope 45 2 x 1 Double - (Undetermined Underside Version) to 3044b Slope 45 2 x 1 Double - with Inside Bar}
* Change 2 Part Black {3839 Plate, Modified 1 x 2 with Handles - Undetermined Ends and Attachment Type to 3839b Plate, Modified 1 x 2 with Handles - Flat Ends, Low Attachment}
* Change 2 Part Red 193au Minifigure, Headgear Helmet Old with Thin Chin Strap - Visor Dimple Presence Undetermined {match ID 0 to 2}
* Change 1 Part White 193au Minifigure, Headgear Helmet Old with Thin Chin Strap - Visor Dimple Presence Undetermined {match ID 0 to 3}

Comments from Submitter:
I'm making these helmets alternates because the current listing is not a totally undetermined piece and my findings contradict the part that was known. My box says copyright 1984,1989, so there is plenty of room for a run change to explain changed helmets, especially the red ones that were not known in sets until 1987.

If Reza or Randy or someone can point out to me variants that I should be looking
for, I'm going to try to look over each bag before I unseal it. Not tonight,
but soon. I rather expect to find a lot of alternates in this box.

I already see that the yellow bricks have inside supports.

I have gotten busy and haven't torn into the set yet, but yes. Randy and
I discussed the heads yesterday while I was at work so I looked at that when
I got home. I have solid stud heads. And mine is a 1989 release of the set.
Hard to believe the original inventory has blocked open heads and also bricks
without inner supports. But the inventory says it was from a parts list and
that's way before published PCC, so I think all the variants in the whole
set are going to be loose.

I have the same conclusion. Generally speaking, i do not trust inventory of a
set inventoried few years ago.
How do you know your copy was released exactly in 1989? (not 1990 or later)

I don't know when it came out of the factory, but the box says c 1984, 1989.
Maybe I should say 1989 EDITION.

Turez actually said a code on the box made it a 1991 sale.

  How do you know your copy was released exactly in 1989? (not 1990 or later)

Turez actually said a code on the box made it a 1991 sale.

I don't know yet how to transform a barcode into a date

TLG changed the box packaging in 1989, so ALL sets released before 1989, let's
say released in 198X, got a new copyright year on the box, printed like copy
right 198X and 1989."

So here we have the 33rd week 1991.

And it is my box.

But it still has solid stud heads all the way to 1991.

Good job!

  My box says copyright 1984,1989, so there is plenty of room for a run change to explain changed helmets, especially the red ones that were not known in sets until 1987.

I assume you bought this set on ebay a few days ago? Photos from that listing
show batch code 3311, that would mean your copy was produced in August 1991.

  If Reza or Randy or someone can point out to me variants that I should be looking for, I'm going to try to look over each bag before I unseal it. Not tonight, but soon. I rather expect to find a lot of alternates in this box.

I have only three suggestions:

Part No: 3003old Name: Brick 2 x 2 without Inside Supports
*
3003old Brick 2 x 2 without Inside Supports
Parts: Brick

Part No: 3962a Name: Minifigure, Utensil Radio with Compact Handle
*
3962a Minifigure, Utensil Radio with Compact Handle
Parts: Minifigure, Utensil

Part No: 4085a Name: Plate, Modified 1 x 1 with Clip Vertical - Type 1 (thin open O clip)
*
4085a Plate, Modified 1 x 1 with Clip Vertical - Type 1 (thin open O clip)
Parts: Plate, Modified

And I don't know if we should keep track of

Part No: 3861  Name: Door 1 x 4 x 5 with 4 Panes
*
3861 Door 1 x 4 x 5 with 4 Panes
Parts: Door

There are three variants of this door pending approval for some time now:

Set No: 1053 Name: Community Buildings (LEGO Basic School Set)
*
1053-1 (Inv) Community Buildings (LEGO Basic School Set)
892 Parts, 1 Book, 1984
Sets: Educational & Dacta: Town

* Add 2 Part 2446 Red Minifigure, Headgear Helmet Standard (Alternate) (match ID 2)
* Add 1 Part 193b1 White Minifigure, Headgear Helmet Old with Thick Chin Strap - without Visor Dimples (Alternate) (match ID 3)
* Change 3 Part Black {x77 String, Cord (Undetermined Type) to x77ac30 String, Cord Thin 30cm}
* Change 1 Part Light Gray {3650 Technic, Gear 24 Tooth Crown (Undetermined Type) to 3650a Technic, Gear 24 Tooth Crown (1st Version - Not Reinforced)}
* Change 2 Part Black {3044 Slope 45 2 x 1 Double - (Undetermined Underside Version) to 3044b Slope 45 2 x 1 Double - with Inside Bar}
* Change 2 Part Black {3839 Plate, Modified 1 x 2 with Handles - Undetermined Ends and Attachment Type to 3839b Plate, Modified 1 x 2 with Handles - Flat Ends, Low Attachment}
* Change 2 Part Red 193au Minifigure, Headgear Helmet Old with Thin Chin Strap - Visor Dimple Presence Undetermined {match ID 0 to 2}
* Change 1 Part White 193au Minifigure, Headgear Helmet Old with Thin Chin Strap - Visor Dimple Presence Undetermined {match ID 0 to 3}

One of these was actually a mistake that I will correct when I finish combing
through the set. I just looked at the bottom of the 3044 Slope to see what the
underside was and I paid no attention to the top to see that it isn't any
sort of 3044. It is 3048c.
