I was curious of peoples thoughts on 2 Mock Brick Link Stores. Being new and
still learning the ins and outs of how the site works I think it would be great
addition to the site.
While not the same type of site. Many sites that host guild websites for MMO,
massively multiplayer online, games have this function where to mock/fake accounts
can interact with each other but none of the paid/real accounts so people can
decide if they like their service enough to pay for it.
Having something like this, I think, would benefit sellers new and old. Sellers
could test out features of the site without worrying about messing up anything
in their own stores and could give buyers a way to see how there transactions
take place so they would be more comfortable about choosing to shop at all the
Brick Link stores instead of some place like eBay instead. Which also might even
cut down on those dreaded canceled orders from new users because they didn't
take the time to really read everything about the site before placing that first
order.
And my biggest reason is so when a new buyer to brick link has to use a feature
they haven't before, the seller, someone like me who is still fairly new in trying
to learn all the ropes, can make a mock order so that I can send them a message/email
of step by step instructions on what to do. Rather then say well I'm not totally
sure but try this and let me know if that works. So what should be a happy and
easy 5 transaction doesn't turn into a day and a half headache.
At one point I had made myself an extra account to do just this but later found
out that having two account is against Brick Links policies so they were merged.
Anyways if it was something that could easily be implemented I think it would
be a great addition to Brick Links.
Not to mention it could mean more stores for Brick Links as well if people had
a way to test things out and be more familiar with the sites functions.

Very interesting! I think yes, but not right on bricklink.com.
Maybe test.bricklink.com, or bricklinkdemo.com etc.

Not bad idea, but I rather have "test store" thats personal and are a copy of
their store, but only can be accessed by owner, and all changes can be reset
back to exact copy of store again. There could even be option to copy test store
to real store if changes is good to seller's eyes.

You mean like a testing ground for store splash pages and store terms/shipping?
I'd love to see that idea put into place.

I'd make it a complete store. Meaning including fake stocks, etc.

That would be a great idea too. I think something like that would help a lot
for sellers who are not as savvy as others when it comes to html coding also
and don't want to mess up their store term and splash pages while experimenting.
