| I have been parting out sets to add to my store inventory lately and using a
method I found in a forum message to easily find costs of parts. I'd love
if BrickLink had a feature that could automatically input individual part costs,
rather than having to do it by hand, but I'm not aware of such a feature.
The message I found suggested I use a Part-Out Value to Price Paid ratio and
divide my part values by that ratio to try to come up with what I actually paid
for each piece. However, that value cannot be correct, as it is based on the
market price of the pieces and can fluctuate, giving an inaccurate measure.
So I came up with a rather simple formula to find the value of each piece (going
one lot at a time). In so doing, I can write down the part cost of lots with
1 piece, 2 pieces, etc., then reference this when parting out sets. Hopefully
this can be done automatically in the future for parting out sets (a change I
think would be far better for simplification of BrickLink). In the mean time,
I'll just use a spreadsheet or calculator and use this formula:
Individual Part Cost: P
Number of Parts in Set: t
Number of parts Per Lot: L
Price Paid for Set: s
P = ((L/t)*s)/L
Thus, I can find the definitive price of a piece, regardless of lot size.
TL;DR: What methods do sellers usually use to find part out cost values and is
there an easier way by which I can determine my part costs?

Please do your math again. Your formula corresponds to just dividing the set
price by the number of parts (P=s/t) and you surely don't want simplify that
far.
