je een foto van de box met de beschrijving LINKS BOVEN " NO 157 FOUR CAR
AUTO TRANSPORT SET " en rechts onder " INCLUDING FOUR SCALE MODEL CARS
"
this set is sold in Ebay USA with a collored box including 4 mercedes 190 SL
( first edition ) and a brouwn packing box including 4 scal model cars from a
UK brand .
ask Gerry istock he know all the info .

Hi Brasletty,
Could you please read my post better (or google-translate first) before you conclude
that I didn't do my best.
1. I did my best for years already,
2. I owned this set (incomplete, no cars, used with damaged colored box), so
I know what it shows,
3. I didn't say it didn't come with cars, but I said it didn't come
with LEGO cars, the set was found with other cars and there's absolutely
no proof it ever came with LEGO cars. Why would LEGO produce cars that were already
retired just for one Sears set released in 1969/ 1970?!
4. The info that it came with non-LEGO cars came from 'Gary Istok', and
Gary get's this info from a lot of LEGO collectors, including myself (as
you know already).
As long as there's no proof it came with LEGO cars in 1969/1970, they shouldn't
be in the inventory.
Instruction and box images are not considered proof. If I would have sold my
used set with colored box by adding LEGO cars, that's no proof it originally
came with these cars.

None of these cars were ever sold in North America from 1957 - 1967 and imo also
not in a 1969/1970 set that was only released in North America.

725-3 Note:
This set was produced from 1961-65 with an inconsistent inventory and no official
piece count. It's likely this set was produced by weight. Earlier examples
are known to have a relatively consistent inventory, containing the usual town
elements denoted below. Samsonite imported specialty pieces such as HO cars
or painted trees from Denmark, so late 1963-65 examples are likely to be missing
specialty pieces due to the discontinuation of the town plan system in 1965.
This set contained painted trees and bushes until 1962. The commonly accepted
inventory is as follows: trees and bushes, an Esso signpost, lightposts, garage
assembly, grey 10x20 plates, 1 set of petrol pumps, 2 HO scale VWs, and the classic
trio of red HO service vehicles. Specialty parts without an amount indicated
contained a maximum of 5, but some earlier examples break this rule. More than
enough basic pieces are included to construct the example model shown on the
box with some left over. The basic pieces included in this set were consistently
cellulose acetate with a LEGO logo reminiscent of the one produced on LEGO bricks
in Europe at the time.
842-2 Inventory:
The instruction doesn't show HO 1:87 vehicles / special parts. I don't
know at the moment where I got the info from that the set did include these vehicles
and parts, have to look for it. But 10 years later my opinion is that there were
no LEGO HO 1:87 vehicles in Samsonite sets after 1967 and reading the 725-3 note,
probably not after 1963/1965.
Addition for this request:
The inventory doesn't make sense anyway, for the set has 4 vehicles, so why
just add 2 vehicles to the inventory, including a car that was retired in 1962/1963.
I would remove both cars and add a note that there's a rumour it had LEGO
vehicles at first and a different brand vehicles later, but there's absolutely
no proof that it actually came with LEGO vehicles at any time, nor which ones
if it did.
